Canterbury racing tips
—
Race 2. (12:50) The Agency Real Estate Maiden (1250m)
#10 – Sharon Drive @ $2.45
Sharon Drive has been confidently backed on debut, which is a good sign from the Chris Waller stable.
The two-year-old filly ran second and fourth in two trials at Rosehill, and having James McDonald riding adds to our confidence.
Given the betting move, it appears she’ll get through the conditions.
Race 3. (13:25) James Squire BM64 (1250m)
#7 – Equipage @ $3.30
Equipage scored an overdue win last time out at Hawkesbury, and we fancy her chances of kicking on with it.
The three-year-old daughter of Lonhro has yet to fire in two attempts at Canterbury, but this isn’t the strongest field she has faced.
We expect her to fire up, and it’s another good ride for McDonald.
Race 6. (15:10) Ranvet BM72 (1250m)
#5 – Hughes @ $3.00
Money is with Hughes, who showed good speed in Melbourne last preparation.
The four-year-old gelding by Russian Revolution owns two wins and two placings from five starts, and running on heavy tracks won’t worry him.
Take the $3.00 odds before they shorten late.
Race 7. (15:45) Kia Ora Prague BM88 (1100m)
#7 – Mojo Magic @ $3.20
Mojo Magic owns five wins from seven starts, with those five wins coming consecutively to start his career.
The four-year-old son of Duporth is unbeaten in two second-up starts following a third at Randwick behind The Black Cloud.
That’s nice form for this level of racing.

Race 1. (12:25) Quayclean Handicap (1200m)
#2 – She’s Got Pizzaz @ $2.70
She’s Got Pizzaz ran second at Sandown on debut before finishing third last time out.
The two-year-old filly looks to have plenty of improvement to come, and it shouldn’t take her long to exit maiden grades.
Barrier nine is tricky, but she’s the best in the race.
Race 3. (13:35) Homes & Acreage BM70 (1600m)
#4 – The Jester’s Son @ $4.00
The Jester’s Son comes off consecutive wins at Ballina and Pakenham, and that form is tough to overlook.
The three-year-old son of Pierro owns two wins and five placings from seven starts, so he’s yet to finish outside of the money.
That’s solid enough form to recommend for this race.
Race 4. (14:10) RPP FM 98.7 BM78 (2000m)
#7 – Valley King @ $3.80
Valley King has yet to win in three attempts this preparation, but he ran well for fourth at Caulfield last time out.
The four-year-old son of Mongolian Khan owns four wins from eight starts overall, so the talent is clearly there.
We expect him to be right around the mark at each-way odds.
Race 6. (15:20) Somerville Village Meats BM64 (1000m)
#5 – Pharari @ $2.10
As her name suggests, Pharari is a speedy type who could go back-to-back on Monday.
The three-year-old filly by American Pharoah won by eight lengths at Cranbourne despite being slow out of the barriers.
Barrier 16 will make that harder, but she has ability, and we’re happy with the drifting odds after opening at $1.75.
