Scone racing tips

Race 2. (14:00) Widden Stud BM58 (1300m)
#2 – Christa @ $3.00
Christa looked good when winning her first two starts before finishing fourth last time out at Tuncurry.
The four-year-old mare by Epaulette won both starts at Scone, so getting back to this track helps her cause.
She also gets 3kg off her back, so we expect her best form to return.
Race 4. (15:20) Pryde’s Easifeed Energypak C1 (900m)
#2 – Flying Rani @ $2.35
Flying Rani looked good winning at Gosford two starts back, winning by a length before running solidly at Wyong.
The three-year-old daughter of Flying Artie gets all favours from barrier four, and the slight drift in odds gives punters better value.
We’re happy to include her in our selections.
Race 6. (14:35) Scone RSL Maiden (1300m)
#4 – Miss Cartel @ $3.50
Miss Cartel comes off three consecutive second placings at Tuncurry, Taree, and Hawkesbury, so the form checks out.
The Angela Davies-trained mare has yet to finish worse than second in two starts over the distance, and barrier three is ideal.
We expect her to break maidens soon, and it could come here.
Race 7. (15:10) Hitotsu at Arrowfield BM66 (1700m)
#7 – Irish Bliss @ $4.40
Irish Bliss was far too good for them last start when winning by two lengths, and a repeat could be on the cards.
The three-year-old son of Redwood capped off consistent form with the win, and running on rain-affected tracks is up his alley.
Take the each-way odds, which are overly generous.

Race 1. (12:15) Ecycle Solutions Maiden Hurdle (3200m)
#10 – Whiskey Tango @ $3.60
Whiskey Tango didn’t fire at Werribee last time out, but jumping over the hurdles is right up his alley.
The former New Zealand runner is a two-time jumps winner across the Tasman, and the hurdles in Australia are very small comparatively.
That bodes well, and he should have too much pace on the flat.
Race 2. (12:55) Ecycle Solutions Hurdle (3200m)
#3 – Pure Deal @ $2.25
Pure Deal is already a two-time placegetter this preparation, including last time out Sandown behind a smart type.
That came behind Affluential, who is a smart type in the making, and that form should be too good for this field.
His odds are shortening, and he could start around $1.90.
Race 4. (14:15) Fantasy Cocktails Maiden (1112m)
#4 – Ignazio @ $14.00
Value is with Ignazio, who struggled on debut at Donald but rebounded with a second placing at Wodonga.
The two-year-old gelding by Toronado wasn’t far behind the winner, and drawing wide is the only negative.
However, this race is there for the taking, so include him.
Race 7. (15:45) Fantasy Cocktails BM64 (1744m)
#3 – New Sovereign @ $3.50
New Sovereign won well on debut at Pakenham before adding placings at Pakenham and Sale.
The four-year-old gelding by Sea the Moon showed good pace throughout when running second last start, so he’s good enough to win.
He should find this race slightly easier, so we’re backing him.
