Trentham racing tips

Race 2. (9:20) Jennian Homes Maiden (2500m)

#1 – Zeefa Zed @ $3.10

Zeefa Zed is a proven winner on the flat, and he’s getting close to scoring over jumps with three placings.

The nine-year-old is in good hands with John Wheeler, and racing on heavy tracks is right up his alley.

Getting 3kg off his back is another positive.

Race 4. (10:28) Metroclad Limited Wellington Hurdle (3200m)

#2 – Taika @ $2.90

Taika is getting close to breaking through this preparation after two placings, and this race is well within his reach.

The seven-year-old son of Mettre En Jeu owns two wins and four placings over the jumps, and we’re not surprised by the odds.

He should be right there in the finish.

Race 5. (11:02) Fusion Electrical BM75 (2100m)

#4 – King Khan @ $3.60

King Khan was too good for them at Trentham last time out, and we’re not jumping off his back.

The six-year-old son of Mongolian Khan won his only start on the track, and there is every reason to back him again.

Take the odds before they shorten on Saturday.

Race 6. (11:34) Adopt a Greyhound BM75 (1400m)

#2 – Sophmaze @ $3.70

Sophmaze is getting close to a win this season after posting two third placings at Wanganui and Hastings.

The four-year-old mare by Derryn is only a two-time winner from 12 starts, but one of those wins came at Trentham.

She is a Group 3 placegetter, so class is on her side.

Ruakaka racing tips

Race 1. (10:10) Northland Business Systems BM75 (1200m)

#2 – Illicit Dreams @ $2.60

Illicit Dreams is getting close to posting an overdue win after two placings this preparation.

The three-year-old filly by Vancouver owns a win and two placings from three starts at Ruakaka, so she loves the track.

We expect her to be fighting out the finish.

Race 2. (10:45) ITM 2YO (1200m)

#1 – I’m All In @ $1.90

I’m All In won well at Cambridge two starts back before placing last time out at Ruakaka.

Having form on the track is ideal, and we’re not surprised by the shortening odds for the favourite.

He has most upside than most in this field, and the odds could continue to firm on race day.

Race 3. (11:20) Entain Insurance Pearl Series BM65 (1200m)

#4 – Fernandez @ $3.90

Class is with Fernandez, who might only be a one-race winner, but she runs her best races at Ruakaka.

The four-year-old owns a win and four placings at Ruakaka, and she is never too far away from the prize at all tracks.

Her consistency should be enough to see her land the prize at each-way odds.

Race 4. (12:00) ITM Sprinters Winter Championship (1400m)

#3 – Malt Time @ $2.50

Malt Time won well at this track two starts back before finishing second last time out in a tough race.

The seven-year-old mare by Adelaide is unbeaten in two starts at the track, and she handles all track conditions.

Getting weight off her back should make her tough to beat.
