Ballarat racing tips

Race 1. (12:25) Stylerite Windows Maiden (1100m)

#8 – Evaporate @ $2.10

Evaporate ran second two starts back at Ballarat, and his two failures have come against tough fields.

He ran at Caulfield and Flemington, and the two-year-old son of Per Incanto gets all favours off the inside draw.

We expect his odds to firm on race day.

Race 3. (13:35) Veolia Maiden (1600m)

#4 – Not So Common @ $4.80

Not So Common ran well enough fresh up in heavy conditions, which is a good sign for this contest.

The three-year-old son of Tivaci runs his best races in heavy conditions, and being from the Waterhouse/Bott stable helps.

Punters should be confident of another tidy effort.

Race 4. (14:10) Hertz Ballarat Maiden (2600m)

#7 – The Precursor @ $2.25

The three-year-old son of St Jean comes off consecutive second placings at Ballarat, which is tidy form.

He is getting close to posting a win, and there are no superstars in this field, so he could take advantage.

We expect his odds to firm on race day, so take the $2.25 and include him in multis.

Race 6. (15:20) Hygain Winners Choice BM70 (1000m)

#10 – Mr Tickles @ $3.50

Mr Tickles comes off a win at Cranbourne by 2.3 lengths, and that was an impressive performance.

The four-year-old gelding by Magnus was a $1.90 chance on that occasion, so punters get much better odds this time around.

Take the each-way value for a nice type.

Grafton racing tips

Race 1. (12:45) Holiday Coast Meats C1 (1006m)

#3 – Jewels Statement @ $3.40

Jewels Statement won well on debut at Ballarat before adding second placings at Grafton and Ballarat.

The three-year-old filly by Press Statement gets all favours off the inside draw, and she has experience on this track.

Everything goes in her favour for this race.

Race 3. (13:55) South Grafton Maiden (1410m)

#7 – So You Can Torque @ $4.00

So You Can Torque hit the line nicely enough on debut when fifth at Lismore, which is a good form guide.

The three-year-old son of So You Think should be better for the run, and this race is there for the taking.

Getting $4.00 is tough to overlook, and he should be the one to beat.

Race 5. (15:05) George’s Tree Services BM66 (1610m)

#6 – He’s a Copy Boy @ $5.50

Each-way value is with He’s a Copy Boy, who comes off a tough run at Rosehill, but this is easier.

The four-year-old son of Press Statement owns a win and a placing from three attempts at Grafton, so the form checks out.

We’re happy to include him in picks at the odds.

Race 6. (15:45) Grafton Toyota Grafton Cup (1610m)

#6 – War Eternal @ $3.90

War Eternal won well two back at Randwick in heavy conditions, and a repeat of that sees it winning.

The five-year-old gelding by Pierro gets in light with only 54kg on his back, and that makes him tough to beat.

Take the odds before money comes for him on race day.
