15/6/24 – Saturday Horse Racing Tips for New Zealand

We have expert betting tips for the New Zealand racing cards this Saturday at Trentham and Te Rapa.

There is plenty of value available with bookmakers at the NZ meetings and we have our best bets across the two cards.

Trentham racing tips

Race 1. (9:30) Tab Odds Surge 3YO (1000m)

#1 – Pokuru Gold @ $2.00

Pokuru Gold is an unbeaten runner for Te Akau, and we’re not surprised by the short odds.

The son of Darci Brahma won as a $1.40 chance at Pukekohe last time out, and that form bodes well at Trentham.

He’s the class runner of the field, so take the odds-on price.

Race 2. (10:05) Barber Commercial Maiden (1400m)

#11 – Steal My Thunder @ $4.80

Steal My Thunder has been around the mark this preparation, including a second placing at Trentham two back.

The four-year-old mare faces similar conditions this time around, so she’s good enough to go one better.

Having Lisa Allpress in the saddle adds weight to her chances.

Race 3. (10:40) Wellington Seamarket BM65 (1400m)

#4 – Knock Off @ $4.60

Knock Off turned his form around with a win at Hawera, and he’s good enough to go back-to-back.

The four-year-old son of Fabulous scored by just under a length as a double-figure odds chance, and the odds are much shorter here.

It’s not a superb Saturday field, so he could take advantage.

Race 5. (11:57) Hallmark & Stone Parliamentary Handicap (2200m)

#1 – Prince Alby @ $3.40

Prince Alby is already a two-time winner this preparation, including two starts back at Trentham.

That came in heavy conditions, which he’s likely to face here, and that plays right into his hands as a four-time heavy track winner.

Only the weight is against him, but put him on top.

Te Rapa racing tips

Race 1. (9:08) SVS Starting Gates Maiden Hurdle (2800m)

#2 – Mont Ventoux @ $3.30

Mont Ventoux comes off three consecutive placings and his maiden jumping win won’t be far away.

The eight-year-old is a seven-time winner overall, and he doesn’t mind racing in heavy track conditions.

The odds are fair considering the strength of this field.

Race 2. (9:41) Fairview Motors Waikato Hurdle (3200m)

#2 – Berry the Cash @ $2.05

Berry the Cash comes off consecutive wins at Woodville, and he’s a jumper for the future.

The seven-year-old owns three wins from six starts over the fences, and his most recent win came by 4.5 lengths.

We’re not surprised by the $2.05 odds, and we’re backing the favourite with confidence.

Race 4. (10:52) Mike Stent Decorators Sprint (1200m)

#1 – Babylon Berlin @ $3.20

Babylon Berlin comes off a tidy third placing, and having multiple Group 1 placings on your record helps.

The talented mare is a four-time winner at Te Rapa, and despite carrying a big weight, she is the clear testing material in this field.

We expect her to jump on the speed and never give the field a chance.

Race 6. (12:06) Signature Homes Waikato Steeplechase (3900m)

#3 – Hey Happy @ $4.00

Hey Happy won well three back and he often shows his best form on the big occasions.

Beating The Cossack is never easy, but he’s not bullet proof, and Hey Happy is good enough to get the better of the favourite.

Given the each-way odds, we’re happy to back him.
