Rosehill racing tips
—
Race 1. (11:00) Chandon Handicap (1400m)
#1 – Sovereign Hill @ $3.20
Sovereign Hill won well on debut and it won’t take him long to get back to winning form.
He comes off a second placing at Rosehill behind Emirate, and that’s going to be a good form guide this season.
He will head forward from the barrier and show a good kick.
Race 2. (11:35) Midway BM72 (1200m)
#14 – Glenbower @ $3.50
Glenbower scored nicely at Newcastle last time out, and that’s a nice form race for the Midway.
The three-year-old colt by Churchill won by 2.8 lengths, so it was a one-sided affair, which adds to his appeal.
Barrier four with only 54kg on his back adds to our confidence levels.
Race 3. (12:10) Tab Highway C3 (1400m)
#2 – Know Thyself @ $1.90
Know Thyself started his career with wins at Newcastle and Scone before finishing second at Canterbury.
The three-year-old wasn’t far behind the winner on that occasion, and he strips fitter for this race on Saturday.
Getting the inside draw adds to his appeal.
Race 4. (12:45) James Squire BM78 (2000m)
#7 – Perfect Play @ $4.20
Money has come for Perfect Play, who has been consistent throughout his career.
He comes off five consecutive placings, and although he’s only a two-time winner overall, he’s due a victory at each-way odds.
We expect money to come for him on race day.
Race 5. (13:20) Tab BM72 (1400m)
#4 – Little Cointreau @ $8.00
Little Cointreau owns three wins and five placings from nine starts, so his form is tough to look past.
He comes off a win at Canterbury where he showed a good turn-of-foot, and there’s nothing wrong with that form.
We thought he would be shorter in betting markets, so include him in horse racing picks.
Race 6. (13:55) Precise Air BM78 (1300m)
#4 – Demiana @ $5.50
Demiana scored an overdue win at Warwick Farm last time out, and she’s good enough to go back-to-back.
The daughter of I Am Invincible owns two second placings from two starts at Rosehill, which is a tidy form guide.
Punters get each-way odds, so they’re worth snapping up.
Race 7. (14:30) ATC Foundation BM72 (1100m)
#2 – Passeggiata @ $3.30
Passeggiata has been threatening to win a race after consecutive second placings at Newcastle and Randwick.
The four-year-old mare by Winning Rupert won her only start at Rosehill, and getting 2kg off her back adds to her appeal.
We’re happy with the $3.30 odds.
Race 8. (15:05) Kia Winter Cup (2400m)
#1 – Sir Lucan @ $3.80
Sir Lucan isn’t the most consistent type going around, but we liked his second placing at Newcastle behind Hezashocka.
The six-year-old gelding owns a placing at Rosehill, so having that experience helps, and this isn’t the strongest field.
There has been support for him, which is good to see.
Race 9. (15:45) Racing for Good BM78 (1500m)
#6 – Franz Josef @ $3.00
Franz Josef owns three wins from four starts, including a win at Rosehill fresh up.
The three-year-old gelding by Snitzel won by 1.5 lengths against a tidy field, and although this is harder, he has plenty of upside.
Barrier three is ideal, and we’re happy to include him in picks.
Race 10. (16:25) Rosehill Bowling Club BM78 (1300m)
#11 – Cool Jakey @ $11.00
Cool Jakey needs a touch of luck from the wide draw, but he gets other conditions in his favour.
The four-year-old son of Pierro is a winner fresh up and he likes rain-affected tracks, so there are positives to take from his form.
Punters get value odds to snap up.
