Ballarat racing tips

Race 2. (13:30) Martin Collins Maiden (1200m)

#3 – Trevenson @ $2.15

Trevenson has firmed with betting markets after opening at $3.00, which is a good sign.

The three-year-old gelding by Hellbent ran third at Bendigo before placing at Ballarat, so the form stacks up nicely.

Punters should take the odds before they keep firming.

Race 4. (14:30) Brandt Maiden (1000m)

#7 – Galath @ $2.35

Galath is another well-backed runner who could make a winning debut.

The two-year-old colt by Zoustar has looked good in work, so he has enough speed to beat this midweek field.

Take the odds, as we expect them to keep firming.

Race 5. (15:00) Porter Plant BM64 (1000m)

#4 – Bold Print @ $3.40

Looking for consecutive wins is Bold Print, who was too quick for them at Pakenham last time out.

The three-year-old gelding by Press Statement couldn’t have been more impressive when scoring by 4. lengths.

Barrier two is ideal and he has every chance of repeating the dose.

Race 7. (16:00) Set a Deposit Limit BM58 (1500m)

#6 – Pontificate @ $4.80

Pontificate is a two-time winner from 19 starts, and she’s getting close to scoring another win after running second at Ballarat.

The five-year-old mare by Dundeel has yet to fire over the distance, but getting the inside draw with 3kg coming off her back helps.

Take the each-way odds available with bookmakers.

Newcastle racing tips

Race 2. (12:55) Hungerford Hill Wines Maiden (1600m)

#1 – Monty Be Quick @ $2.50

Monty Be Quick is getting close to breaking through after two solid efforts this preparation.

The four-year-old son of New Bay didn’t fire last time out at Scone, but it came in heavy conditions, which he found too tough.

This race is right up his alley, so include in selections.

Race 3. (13:35) New Zealand Bloodstock Maiden (1200m)

#3 – Dumebi @ $2.00

After opening at $1.80, there hasn’t been much money for Dumebi. However, we’re happy to back him.

The Ciaron Maher-trained colt comes off a fifth at Warwick Farm, behind Detentu, who has since run at Randwick on Saturday.

This level of racing looks right up his alley, so include in selections.

Race 5. (14:45) Sharp Office BM64 (1400m)

#2 – Angel Down @ $3.00

Angel Down owns two wins from three starts, and she could fire up in a fresh state on Tuesday.

The three-year-old daughter of Hellbent won at Scone and Caulfield, and having a win at Caulfield bodes well for this level of racing.

She hasn’t raced since December, but we thought she would be around $2.10, so take the value available.

Race 7. (15:55) Strathayr BM64 (1400m)

#6 – Let’s Go Bro @ $9.00

Let’s Go Bro is better for two runs back from a spell, including a fifth at Hawkesbury last time out.

The four-year-old gelding by Sepoy gets a valuable 2kg off his back, and his best form comes at Newcastle with a win and a placing.

Getting $9.00 is much better than we expected.
