Hawkesbury racing tips
—
Race 1. (12:10) HRC Motel Maiden (1000m)
#9 – Waterski @ $2.90
Waterski was scratched last week but she should be ready to fire on Tuesday.
The James Cummings-trained filly comes off a close second placing on this track, and she’s good enough to go one better.
Getting an inside draw with 55kg on her back helps.
Race 3. (13:20) Workers Lifestyle Maiden (1500m)
#1 – Cheergal @ $2.70
Cheergal has been close in two of her three career starts, running second in both.
The three-year-old filly by So You Think ran second at Hawkesbury last start, and she’s bred to enjoy the rise in distance.
We liked the way she battled to the line, and she has the most promise of any runner in this field.
Race 6. (15:10) Blakes Marine Midway C1 (1300m)
#6 – Inquisitive Legend @ $3.10
Inquisitive Legend could get back to winning form, which she showed fresh up at Newcastle.
The Curtis-trained filly won by a length to break maidens before running seventh and fourth in two subsequent runs.
Drawing wide isn’t ideal, but she’s the best horse in the race, and the odds are well worth snapping up.
Race 7. (15:50) Lander Toyota BM64 (2000m)
#1 – Guzumped @ $4.80
Guzumped was too good for them at Wyong last start, and we’re picking him to win again.
The four-year-old son of Dundeel owns two wins and four placings from nine starts, and he owns a placing at Hawkesbury.
Getting 2kg off his back makes him a winning hope.

Ballarat racing tips

Race 1. (13:30) Happy 80th Birthday Maureen Plews Maiden (1200m)
#10 – For Better @ $2.45
For Better ran second on debut at Ballarat, and although no match for the winner, she’s good enough to go one better.
The two-year-old filly by Better than Ready ran at $3.10 on debut, so punters have come for her again.
It’s not a tricky field and she gets the inside draw, so there are things in her favour.
Race 2. (14:00) Global Turf Maiden (1100m)
#3 – Leeonardo @ $2.10
Leeonardo faced tricky fields during his first campaign, and it’s why he has been best-backed to win.
The three-year-old gelding by Toronado opened his account with a fourth on debut at Geelong before running into some tough fields.
Barrier two is ideal, and after opening at $2.50, money has come for him steadily.
Race 4. (15:00) Porter Plant BM64 (2100m)
#2 – Diplomatic Jack @ $6.50
Diplomatic Jack is a 10-year-old, but we’re happy to give him one more chance at this level.
He’s a seven-time winner, and although he’s struggling to win races at this stage of his career, he hasn’t been far away.
Punters get each-way odds to snap up.
Race 6. (16:00) Race Replays BM70 (1200m)
#10 – Corner Off @ $3.90
Corner Off owns two wins and seven placings from 10 starts, so she’s the best runner at Ballarat on Tuesday.
The four-year-old comes off a third placing at Geelong when carrying 60kg, so dropping in weight is a bonus.
We expect her to be fighting out the finish as the loose favourite.
