Canterbury racing tips
—
Race 1. (12:50) Golden Mile @ Darley Maiden (1250m)
#6 – Wanaruah @ $3.50
Wanaruah comes off a trial win at Randwick by 1.3 lengths, and that’s a tidy form guide for his debut run.
The two-year-old colt by Snitzel is likely to sit on the pace with Tim Clark riding, and he’s a master judge of pace in front.
We expect him to settle handy and kick clear.
Race 2. (13:25) Hitotsu at Arrowfield Maiden (1250m)
#2 – Poised @ $3.70
The Waterhouse/Bott-trained filly ran second on debut at Warwick Farm, which is a tidy form guide.
The daughter of I Am Invincible is better for having that run under her belt, and the stable/jockey combo could link up again.
It’s a close race for favouritism with Cinsault, but money should come late for Poised.
Race 3. (14:00) James Squire Maiden (1250m)
#7 – Summer Loving @ $2.15
Summer Loving has taken on tough types throughout her career, and dropping to this class should result in a win.
The three-year-old filly by Exceed and Excel ran behind the likes of Tiz Invincible and Tropical Squall, so the form checks out.
Her recent trial win came by 5.8 lengths, so she’s the class runner of the field.
Race 4. (14:35) Drinkwise Maiden (1550m)
#4 – Lenape Vibe @ $5.00
Lenape Vibe hasn’t shown his best form in two career starts, but we’re happy to stick with him.
The Chris Waller-trained gelding didn’t fire on all cylinders at Kembla Grange, but punters should expect improvement from this stable.
Take the each-way odds, and look for a betting push on race day.
Race 5. (15:10) Schweppes BM72 (1900m)
#2 – Rematch @ $4.00
Looking to score consecutive wins is Rematch, who scored a narrow win at Rosehill last time out.
The four-year-old handled the wet conditions well, and racing on rain-affected tracks is usually the key to his success.
His odds have drifted since opening at $3.40, but we’re happy with the better price.
Race 6. (15:45) Tab BM72 (1250m)
#8 – Iron Man @ $5.50
Iron Man has been around the mark throughout his career, including a win and four placings from eight starts.
The son of Exosphere has been prepared with consecutive trial wins at Rosehill and Hawkesbury, so he’s ready to fire on Wednesday.
Getting the inside draw makes him tough to beat at each-way odds.
Race 7. (16:20) Headwater @ Vinery Stud BM72 (1550m)
#1 – The Creator @ $4.80
The Creator is already a two-time winner this preparation, including last time out at Warrnambool.
The four-year-old gelding comes to Sydney with four wins from 10 starts, and all four wins came on rain-affected tracks.
This race suits him, and punters appreciate the each-way odds.
