Sandown racing tips & form
Race 1. (12:25) Jockey Watch BM70 (2400m)
#6 – Crown of Catherine @ $3.60
Crown of Catherine showed her best form when winning at Werribee last time out, which is a good form guide.
The three-year-old filly by Fiorente showed a great turn-of-foot to win by seven lengths, and that’s the best form guide.
Carrying 54.5kg makes her much harder to beat.
Race 2. (13:00) Thoroughbred Club of Australia BM70 (1000m)
#9 – Cheval Chic @ $4.60
Cheval Chic owns three wins and two second placings from nine starts, and that form is tough to overlook.
The four-year-old mare by Written Tycoon comes off a heavy track win at Geelong, so we’re happy to stick with her.
It’s not an easy field but the each-way odds are appealing.
Race 3. (13:35) Photo Finish Refund BM74 (1000m)
#4 – Heart of Glass @ $4.00
Heart of Glass didn’t fire at Flemington three back, but she returned from a spell with consecutive wins at Bendigo and Sandown.
The three-year-old filly by Impending won narrowly last time out in a driving finish, which is a confidence-building victory.
Getting 3kg off her back adds to her appeal.
Race 4. (14:10) Stow Storage Solutions BM70 (1600m)
#2 – Subrising @ $4.80
Subrising won well at Ballarat two back when scoring by just under a length.
That was followed up with a third placing at Caulfield against a tough field, so she should find this much easier with the drop in class.
It’s another each-way chance with bookmakers.
Race 5. (14:45) Tobin Brothers Celebrating Lives BM74 (2400m)
#2 – Goldenstatewarrior @ $4.80
Goldenstatewarrior scored an overdue win last time out at Sandown, and we’re backing him to win again.
The four-year-old son of Golden Horn scored by a nose in a close finish, and that should give him plenty of confidence.
It’s good to see money come for him throughout the week.
Race 6. (15:20) Bet with Mates BM70 (1500m)
#1 – Nation’s Call @ $2.70
Nation’s Call doesn’t know how to run a bad race after posting two wins and five placings from nine starts.
The four-year-old son of Frankel won by 1.8 lengths as a $1.40 favourite, so punters get better odds this time around.
Carrying 61kg makes it harder, but he’s the best horse in the race.
Race 7. (15:55) Senet Gambling Law Experts BM70 (1800m)
#5 – Albanian I Am @ $9.50
Albanian I Am isn’t the most consistent type going around, but his win at Caulfield three back makes the each-way odds worth taking.
The four-year-old son of Impending is a three-time winner from 20 starts, and he won his only start over this distance.
Barrier 14 makes it harder, but he has time to find cover.
Race 8. (16:30) Same Race Multi BM70 (1300m)
#12 – Rhapsody Chic @ $3.40
Rhapsody Chic capped off consistent form with a win at Seymour, and we’re picking him to win again.
The four-year-old son of Sacred Falls owns two wins and four placings from six starts, and getting the inside draw helps.
The odds are better than we expected for the favourite.
