The NBA Finals are underway — and nearly over — which means that bettors are fully invested in the Finals MVP market.
And there’s officially a new favorite atop the oddsboard: Boston’s Jaylen Brown.
After the Celtics’ 106-99 Game 3 victory over the Mavericks in Dallas, Brown’s odds moved to -280 from +155.
His teammate Jayson Tatum had long been the Finals MVP favorite. As of Wednesday night, however, Tatum’s odds moved to +250 from +140.
Here’s a look at the latest odds for Finals MVP at DraftKings Sportsbook as of June 13.
NBA Finals MVP:
Jaylen Brown, Celtics: -280 (bet $10 to win $13.57 total)
Jayson Tatum, Celtics: +250 (bet $10 to win $35 total)
Luka Doncic, Mavericks: +2200 (bet $10 to win $230 total)
Jrue Holiday, Celtics: +7500 (bet $10 to win $760 total)
On Thursday’s episode of “The Carton Show,” host Craig Carton praised both Brown and Tatum, but said that a ring will specifically boost Tatum’s stature in Celtics lore.
“I know people are going to overreact to what I’m about to say, so just let me say it and then you guys can poke holes in it all you want,” Carton noted.
“Whether Tatum’s the MVP or Brown or Jrue Holiday … when the Celtics finish the Mavericks off and become NBA champions this year, I think you can start having the conversation that Jayson Tatum — maybe even Jaylen Brown — become top-10 Celtics of all time. And you’re talking about a franchise that will now have 18 titles. And I’m not saying [Tatum] is [Bill] Russell or [Larry] Bird or [Bob] Cousy or [John] Havlicek, but I am saying, when you talk about Paul Pierce being one of those guys … “
Through three games, Tatum is averaging 21.7 points, 8.7 rebounds and 7.3 assists. He’s shooting 36% from the field.
After Game 3, Holiday’s Finals MVP odds lengthened to +7500 from +500. Doncic’s moved to +2200 from +600.
