Cal alum Collin Morikawa will compete for the United States at the Paris Olympics this summer.
Morikawa, 27, will join countrymen Scottie Scheffler, Xander Schauffele and Wyndham Clark in France. The 2019 Cal graduate is no stranger to the international stage, having finished fourth at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021.
The Los Angeles native, ranked seventh in the world, tied for 14th at the U.S. Open last weekend.
Morikawa beat out U.S. Open champion Bryson DeChambeau for one of the coveted four spots, as the Cal alum was still placed higher than DeChambeau in the rankings used to decide who makes the Olympic team.
Morikawa has won a half dozen times on the PGA Tour, the most notable victories coming at the 2020 PGA championship and 2021 Open Championship.
Morikawa has finished in the Top 5 in 15 PGA Tour events this year.
As a collegiate athlete, the four-time All-American was the individual medalist at 2019 Pac-12 championships and the conference’s player of the year. He also holds Cal’s stroke-play average record at 69.78.
Morikawa won’t be the only former Golden Bear competing for Olympic hardware in Paris.
Byeong Hun An, 32, will represent South Korea.
Ranked 23rd in the world, An won the 2009 U.S. Amateur competition at just 17 years old. He recently placed third at the Wells Fargo Championship.
Morikawa and An are among the 60 golfers who will participate in the Olympics. They will play 72 holes over four days to determine who will take home gold, silver and bronze medals.
