The 2024 U.S. Open Golf Championship had been a thrilling tournament filled with exciting action. The fourth round was no different as Rory McIlroy blew his shot at a U.S. Open Championship in the final holes.

A bogey on 18 from McIlroy opened the door for Bryson DeChambeau to win. All he needed was a par on 18 to secure the victory and he didn’t let that chance go to waste. DeChambeau had a masterful weekend. Through three rounds, he was the only golfer to score under par every round. The final round was undoubtedly DeChambeau’s roughest, but he’d already built enough of a lead to secure his second U.S. Open Championship (2020).

Although McIlroy had every opportunity to win, putting together a tremendous first 14 holes, but three bogeys on 15, 16, and 18 opened the door just enough for DeChambeau to win.

All in all, eight golfers finished under-par, the most ever for a U.S. Open at Pinehurst No. 2. Still though, Martin Kaymer’s -9 in 2014 remains the greatest U.S. Open weekend of all-time at Pinehurst. DeChambeau slides comfortably into the second slot though. With many more U.S. Open’s scheduled to be played at the Cradle of American Golf over the next twenty years, we can only hope each of the following U.S. Opens are as exhilarating as the one we experienced the last four days.

Here is the final leaderboard for the 2024 U.S. Open.
