Ipswich racing tips

Race 1. (11:43) Ray White Ipswich C3 (1100m)

#10 – Payline @ $3.30

Payline has been a great bet this preparation, coming off consecutive wins at Sunshine Coast and Doomben.

The three-year-old makes a rise in class for this race, but given the way he has been winning, we’re not worried.

With luck from the draw, he should be right in the thick of the finish.

Race 2. (12:18) Channel Seven Winter Stayers BM78 (2500m)

#1 – The Right Way @ $3.40

The Right Way is another runner coming off consecutive wins, so the form is on the board early at Ipswich.

He is a five-time winner overall, and although his wins came against easier opposition, he’s a smart type in the making.

We’re not surprised to see him open as the favourite.

Race 3. (12:53) Great Northern Ipswich Mile BM78 (1666m)

#10 – Madame Odette @ $6.50

Madame Odette didn’t fire fresh up at Eagle Farm, but the four-year-old mare could fire back.

The four-year-old mare by Churchill is a three-time winner overall, and she has faced tricky opposition throughout her career.

Punters get value odds, which are firming.

Race 4. (13:28) Ipswich Party Hire BM78 (1200m)

#9 – Rockribbed @ $4.20

Value is with Rockribbed, who looks to cap off consecutive placings with a win.

The six-year-old son of Night of Thunder is a proven third-up winner with two wins from four starts, so that bodes well.

Getting $4.20 is a value price from bookmakers.

Race 5. (14:03) River Bundamba C6 (1350m)

#2 – Sailor’s Secret @ $12.00

Sailor’s Secret is getting close to a win and we’re happy with the double-figure odds available.

The four-year-old son of Better than Ready loves racing at Ipswich with seven starts for four wins and three placings.

Punters should snap up the generous odds.

Race 6. (14:38) Schweppes T L Cooney (1350m)

#2 – Hedged @ $2.45

Hedged had no luck when running third at Eagle Farm last time out, which is why connections are having another go.

The three-year-old has a lot of talent, and he’s one of the more underrated age-group types going around.

We’re happy with the $2.45 odds, which could firm throughout the week.

Race 7. (15:17) Tab Ipswich Cup (2150m)

#10 – Regal Lion @ $5.00

The Annabel Neasham-trained gelding is struggling to win, but he should enjoy racing against this company.

He is a three-time winner, and one of those wins came at Ipswich, so having experience on the track adds to his appeal.

Dropping to 53.5kg could see his best form return.

Race 8. (15:53) Imperial Racing Eye Liner Stakes (1350m)

#7 – Wategos @ $2.25

Wategos is always tough to beat, and his win two back at Doomben is a good betting guide.

The five-year-old son of Capitalist followed it up with a second placing at Eagle Farm behind Yellow Brick.

That’s another great form guide, so we’re backing him to win.

Race 9. (16:30) Gordon’s Gin Gai Waterhouse Classic (1200m)

#6 – Midnight in Tokyo @ $6.00

Midnight in Tokyo owns five wins and six placings from 18 starts, and she’s good enough to beat this field.

The four-year-old mare by Kobayashi likes running over this distance, and punters get each-way odds to snap up.

Take the odds before they firm on race day.
