Randwick racing tips

Race 1. (11:00) Tab Highway C3 (1200m)

#5 – Nipotino @ $8.00

Value is with Nipotino, who comes off a heavy track win at Randwick.

The four-year-old gelding has had eight starts at Randwick, which is a lot for a Highway Handicap runner.

Getting 3kg off is back helps, and the odds appeal.

Race 2. (11:35) Petaluma BM72 (1600m)

#8 – Vanquished @ $4.60

Vanquished comes off a win at Canterbury by 1.3 lengths, and he’s good enough to repeat the dose.

The Waterhouse/Bott-trained gelding has yet to race at Randwick, but it’s a track that should suit his running style.

Getting 2kg off his back makes him tough to beat.

Race 3. (12:10) Midway BM72 (1600m)

#11 – November Falls @ $3.20

November Falls has been steadily backed throughout the week following a second placing at Randwick.

The four-year-old mare owns three wins from 14 starts, and she’s knocking on the door of a win at the track.

Getting in with 55kg and James McDonald riding helps.

Race 4. (12:45) Racing for Good BM78 (1800m)

#13 – It’s a Wonder @ $4.00

Most of the money is with It’s a Wonder, who is dangerous down in the weights.

The three-year-old filly won at Newcastle earlier this prep before running close behind the likes of Bright Red and Invincible Spy.

Dropping to 52kg is ideal, and it could pay to take the odds before they firm.

Race 5. (13:20) James Squire BM72 (1300m)

#8 – Kerguelen @ $2.00

Kerguelen couldn’t have been more impressive when winning on debut at Kembla Grange.

The James Cummings-trained gelding won by 9.5 lengths as the $1.70 favourite, and that was good for the fastest 1200m race on the day.

He needs luck from the draw, but he should be too smart for them.

Race 6. (13:55) Macquarie St Social BM88 (1800m)

#4 – Akasawa @ $6.00

Akasawa looks to cap off consecutive third placings at Tamworth and Gunnedah.

The six-year-old has yet to fire in three attempts at Randwick, but with eight wins from 18 starts overall, he can’t be overlooked.

Barrier four is ideal and we’re happy to include him at the each-way price.

Race 7. (14:30) Tab BM78 (1000m)

#10 – Dipsy Doodle @ $2.50

The Cummings-trained filly makes her return and we think it will be a winning one.

The daughter of Lonhro owns two wins and three placings from seven starts, and her trial form has been tidy.

It’s another good ride for McDonald, who could have another big day.

Race 8. (15:05) The Agency Civic Stakes (1400m)

#4 – Strait Acer @ $7.00

Strait Acer is better than what his recent form suggests, and dropping in grade could help.

He has finished behind the likes of Here to Shock and Ausbred Flirt, so he should enjoy racing against this company.

He’s a Group 1 winner with class on his side, so we’re prepared to take the risk.

Race 9. (15:45) Catanach’s Jewellers BM88 (1200m)

#5 – Jedibeel @ $6.50

Jedibeel needs luck from the wide draw, but with two wins this preparation, he has class.

The four-year-old gelding by Savabeel owns five wins and four placings from 12 starts, including a win at Canterbury last start.

Clark rides, and he could push forward and be tough to run down.

Race 10. (16:25) Precise Air BM78 (1400m)

#5 – Starman @ $5.00

Value is with Starman, who has been threatening to win a race this preparation.

The five-year-old son of Zoustar has yet to win at Randwick, but he has been close with three placings.

If there is moisture in the track, his chances of winning increase significantly.
