Albury racing tips

Race 1. (12:45) Albury Newsagency Maiden (1500m)

#1 – Sound of Jura @ $2.05

Sound of Jura is improving with every run, including a fourth at Swan Hill last time out.

The three-year-old gelding by Nicconi was only two lengths behind the winner as a $9.50 chance, and we’re not surprised by the shorter odds.

Include him in picks in the opening race.

Race 3. (13:55) Choices Flooring Wodonga Maiden (1175m)

#3 – Riverbend Unicorn @ $2.80

Riverband Unicorn ran second at Albury on debut as a $61.00 chance, so the run was much better than expected.

The three-year-old son of Va Pensiero showed a good turn-of-foot from the back of the field, which is another positive sign.

After opening at $5.00, strong money has come for him.

Race 5. (15:10) Level One Wine Bar & Cellars C1 (1400m)

#2 – King De Lune @ $3.40

King De Lune comes off an impressive win at Wangaratta by 1.5 lengths as a $1.85 chance, so the better odds are attractive.

The three-year-old son of Puissance de Lune runs his best races over this distance, and he only needs luck from an outside draw.

We fancy his chances of going back-to-back.

Race 6. (15:45) Mike Gardiner C3 (1000m)

#3 – Starlight Girl @ $2.50

Gunning for three consecutive wins is Starlight Girl, who has been too good for her opposition this preparation.

The three-year-old filly by Zoustar won at Goulburn last time out, and she’s good enough to defeat this field.

She’s running well enough to score again, so include her in multis.

Pakenham racing tips

Race 2. (13:30) Gippsland Premium Quarries Maiden (1100m)

#1 – Helovawin @ $3.20

Helovawin was narrowly beaten on debut at Cranbourne as a $4.40 chance, and he’s good enough to improve on that.

The three-year-old son of Winning Rupert gets all favours off the inside draw, and we’re not worried by the drifting odds.

Money could come on race day, so take the $3.20.

Race 3. (14:00) Grant’s Plumbing Maiden (1600m)

#7 – Ready Tiger @ $1.90

Ready Tiger runs at short odds after a series of close-up efforts, and he doesn’t need to improve to win this race.

The three-year-old son of Casino Prince owns three placings this preparation, including a second placing at Cranbourne last start.

We’re not surprised by the $1.90 odds, and they’re worth taking.

Race 4. (14:30) Harris Automation Engineering Maiden (1400m)

#11 – Special Dancer @ $2.00

Special Dancer is getting close to breaking through after placing at Pakenham last time out.

The three-year-old daughter of Needs Further wasn’t far off the mark behind Pharoah’s Daughter, and that’s a solid form guide.

She only needs luck from a wide barrier draw to figure in the finish.

Race 6. (15:30) Dalton Consulting Engineers BM58 (2200m)

#5 – Figo the Great @ $3.20

Figo the Great has been a model of consistency this campaign, including four consecutive placings.

The five-year-old gelding by Magnus owns two second placings from three starts at Pakenham, and he loves the distance.

Punters get good odds for a runner that’s overdue.
