Sale racing tips
—
Race 1. (11:35) Max Blakiston Maiden (1100m)
#12 – Flattered @ $3.20
Flattered is getting close to scoring a win after posting four second placings from six starts.
The two-year-old filly by Yes Yes Yes comes off a quality second placing at Sandown, and that’s a good form guide.
She should be the one to beat and finally score a win.
Race 2. (12:05) Helen Cartwell Maiden (1100m)
#4 – Gambino @ $3.20
Gambino looked good winning a trial earlier this month, and money has come for him.
The two-year-old colt is bred for speed by Written Tycoon, and after opening at $5.50, his odds have firmed considerably.
We’re happy to take the $3.20 before it firms.
Race 3. (14:35) Tony Hart Maiden (1400m)
#1 – Al Duca @ $5.00
Al Duca was only a length behind the winner on debut when second at Geelong, so that’s a good form guide.
The three-year-old gelding by Al Maher has plenty of upside, and breaking maidens shouldn’t take him long.
Punters get each-way odds to snap up.
Race 4. (13:10) Anthony Lee Maiden (2200m)
#4 – Sacredarro @ $1.85
Sacredarro is getting close to a win after two placings from two starts, and he hasn’t been the luckiest runner.
The three-year-old colt by Arrogate ran second at Sandown on debut before placing at Bendigo, and rising in distance helps.
We’re not surprised by the shortening odds.
Race 5. (13:45) Bill Jones Maiden (1000m)
#13 – Volander @ $3.50
Volander has been racing in the city, so coming to Sale should see her form improve.
The four-year-old mare by Bel Esprit ran third at Caulfield behind Kings Consort in 2022, and although she hasn’t raced for over two years, she could return with a bang.
Follow any positive betting moves on race day.
Race 6. (14:20) Thelma Coster BM58 (1000m)
#9 – Fun with Flags @ $2.70
Fun with Flags didn’t fire last time out at Morphettville, but she pulled up lame.
The four-year-old mare by Starspangledbanner looked good when winning on debut at Pakenham, which is a better form guide.
Getting barrier four is ideal, and money has come for her.
Race 7. (14:55) Wayne Pollock BM64 (1200m)
#2 – Starianne @ $14.00
Starianne runs her best races fresh up with four starts for a win and three placings.
The daughter of Sebring is only a two-time winner overall, but she comes off a third placing at Flemington.
City form at Sale should hold up, and the double figure odds are too good to pass up.
Race 8. (15:30) David Wilson BM70 (1400m)
#1 – General Firepower @ $3.80
Looking for consecutive wins is General Firepower, who scored impressively at Sandown.
The five-year-old gelding won by 4.5 lengths in fine style, and he could be heading through the grades in good style.
Getting 2kg off his back adds to his appeal.
Race 9. (16:05) Ladbroke It BM64 (1717m)
#11 – Brave Miss @ $4.40
Brave Miss has drifted in betting markets after opening at $3.70, but we’re happy to include her in selections.
The four-year-old mare by Rebel Raider owns two wins and three placings from six starts, so there’s nothing wrong with her record.
Take the each-way odds available with bookmakers.
