Taree racing tips
—
Race 2. (12:10) Ian Deer Maiden (1250m)
#7 – Salsero @ $4.20
Salsero hasn’t been asked for much at the trials, hence the shortening odds.
The three-year-old gelding by Adelaide makes his debut from the inside draw, and that’s a massive help on Monday.
The odds are worth taking against a field lacking experience.
Race 4. (13:20) Courtney Adamson Super Maiden (1400m)
#2 – Naahro @ $3.00
Naahro has yet to win from seven starts, but he has been close with four placings.
The three-year-old gelding by Lonhro kicked off his preparation with two placings before finishing fourth at Newcastle.
There’s nothing wrong with that form, so take the odds before they shorten close to start time.
Race 5. (13:55) Tony Walton C2 (1400m)
#8 – Tornado Express @ $3.90
Tornado Express is seeking three consecutive wins after scoring at Muswellbrook and Tamworth.
The three-year-old filly by Toronado handles heavy conditions after scoring narrowly two back, so these conditions don’t worry her.
Her odds have firmed, so take the $3.90 available.
Race 6. (14:35) Phil Shoesmith C1 (1250m)
#10 – Yamba’s Girl @ $3.90
Yamba’s Girl scored an impressive debut win at Taree, and there’s no reason why she can’t win again.
The three-year-old filly by Stratum Star paid $2.70 on that occasion, so punters get better odds this time around.
There is more depth to this field, but she looks like the best of them, and being on the quick back up works.

Race 1. (13:00) Quayclean Maiden (1000m)
#8 – Close My Eyes @ $2.30
Close My Eyes opened at $2.15 before drifting, but we’re not worried by the betting drift.
The two-year-old gelding by Tassort looked good at the Flemington jumpouts when posting a win and a placing.
He’s in good hands, and barrier three adds to his appeal.
Race 3. (14:00) The Big Screen Company Maiden (1200m)
#1 – Highland Dream @ $4.00
Highland Dream wasn’t all that far away last preparation when scoring consecutive second placings.
The four-year-old gelding by Highland Reel ran second at Traralgon and Yarra Valley, and that’s solid enough form.
Barrier nine doesn’t make it easy but he handles rain-affected tracks.
Race 5. (15:00) Magic Millions National Sale BM70 (3080m)
#5 – Castel Trosino @ $3.30
Castel Trosino hasn’t won this preparation, but running over this distance should see his form improve.
The five-year-old son of Declaration of War owns a win and five placings from 12 starts, and rising from 2400m to 3080m helps.
He’s due a win and we’re backing him to win.
Race 7. (16:00) Asset Painting Services BM58 (1500m)
#3 – Run Naan @ $5.50
Run Naan has improved nicely at his last two starts, and the eight-year-old is nearing a win.
The son of Makfi ran third at Mornington two back before finishing second at Pakenham last time out.
He gets a valuable 2kg off his back, and after opening at $7.00, his odds have firmed solidly with betting support.
