Caulfield racing tips

Race 1. (11:20) Photo Finish Refund Handicap (1000m)

#1 – Blue Renegade @ $3.60

Blue Renegade is already a two-time winner from four starts, including a win at Sandown last time out.

The two-year-old colt by Blue Point hit the line powerfully to win by 2.3 lengths, and he has experience on the track when running second.

The draw makes it tough, but he’s a nice type.

Race 2. (11:50) Bet with Mates BM84 (1100m)

#8 – Kin @ $3.90

Kin struggled to win races last preparation, but she was right behind the mark with multiple placings.

The James Cummings-trained mare by Impending ran third at Caulfield at her last two starts behind Rey Magnerio and Twin Perfection.

Getting in with 56kg on her back makes her tough to beat.

Race 3. (12:25) Become an MRC Member BM78 (2000m)

#2 – Picaroon @ $17.00

Picaroon comes off two wins at much lower levels, but we’re happy to include her at each-way odds.

The six-year-old won at Casterton and Edenhope, but she has been beating open class fields, and she’s unbeaten over the distance.

This is her toughest test, but she’s up to it.

Race 4. (13:00) Whisky, Wine & Fire BM78 (2000m)

#9 – Kapakiri @ $5.50

Kapakiri is a model of consistency, having posted three wins and eight placings from 17 starts.

The four-year-old son of Kermadec has yet to race at Caulfield, but having form in Sydney bodes well in Melbourne.

He should find cover from the draw, so watch for him to strike late.

Race 5. (13:35) Sportsbet Feed Handicap (1200m)

#3 – Paradise City @ $9.00

Paradise City has been around the mark since winning fresh up, and she should be back to her best.

The daughter of Deep Field won at Sandown, and her subsequent placing at Caulfield behind British Angel maps well.

Getting the inside draw adds to her appeal.

Race 6. (14:15) Lamaro’s Hotel BM84 (1200m)

#4 – Extratwo @ $16.00

The Ciaron Maher-trained mare isn’t always the most consistent type going around, but she’s dangerous on her day.

She owns five wins from 15 starts, including a win at Caulfield three starts back. She then took on tough opposition at Morphettville and Flemington.

We’re prepared to forgive those efforts and back her to win.

Race 7. (14:55) Ive Handicap (1440m)

#5 – Riproar @ $18.00

The New Zealand runner isn’t showing his true potential, but we’re prepared to keep backing him.

He comes off a moderate run for sixth at Sandown, but he owns a placing at Caulfield, and his top-level ability is better than this opposition.

Punters get each-way odds for the Kiwi, which is enticing.

Race 8. (15:30) Jockey Watch Handicap (1000m)

#5 – Gitalong @ $6.50

Gitalong kicked off last preparation with three consecutive wins, so he could do something similar on Saturday.

The three-year-old son of Zoustar wasn’t far behind some nice types at Geelong before spelling, and his trial form has been solid.

He just needs luck from the wide draw to be competitive.

Race 9. (16:05) Marshall White Quality (2000m)

#15 – Touristic @ $8.50

Value is with Touristic, who turned his form around when scoring at Mornington last time out.

The five-year-old son of Frankel enjoyed the rise back up in distance, and getting into this race with only 54kg on his back helps.

Take the each-way odds available.

Race 10. (16:40) Race Replays Handicap (1440m)

#6 – Chorlton Lane @ $2.50

Chorlton Lane comes off consecutive wins, and the former European is starting to amass a nice record.

The son of Mehmas owns five wins and four placings from 10 starts, and dropping to 53kg makes him tough to hold out.

It’s a tough field, but he’s a top winning chance.
