Morphettville racing tips

Race 1. (12:02) Quayclean BM76 (1000m)

#2 – Boonie @ $3.00

Boonie is improving with every run this preparation, including a second placing at Murray Bridge last time out.

The five-year-old son of Brazen Beau does his best racing over the distance, and getting weight off his back helps.

Take the $3.00 odds before they firm on race day.

Race 2. (12:37) Hahn 0MW (1000m)

#5 – Putanothercoinin @ $4.60

Putanothercoinin has been a model of consistency throughout his career so far, including a win and two placings.

The son of Jukebox hit the line nicely for fourth at Murray Bridge, which should be a good form guide for future racing.

Barrier three with only 54.5kg on his back helps.

Race 3. (13:12) Croser Handicap (1950m)

#5 – Mariota @ $15.00

Mariota won well on debut at Mornington before placing last time out at Echuca.

The three-year-old gelding by Fastnet Rock didn’t have all favours in that run, so punters should expect better on Saturday.

It’s an even field, so the each-way odds are worth taking.

Race 4. (13:47) Sportsbet Jockey Watch BM82 (1550m)

#6 – Rogue Rocker @ $3.90

Rogue Rocker is never too far away from the prize, and having form in Melbourne should see him go close.

The six-year-old son of Dissident is a four-time winner overall, and he’s long overdue a winning turn. This race is there for the taking, and he’s the best of them.

His odds have firmed, so jump on before they firm.

Race 5. (14:27) Fleurieu Milk Company BM66 (1000m)

#1 – Vintage Star @ $6.50

Vintage Star didn’t fire at Flemington last time out, but punters should expect a quick bounce back effort.

The three-year-old owns three wins from six starts, so it has been a good start to his career.

His most recent and only run at Morphettville was a win, and we’re happy to back him to beat this even betting field.

Race 6. (15:07) Sportsbet Oaklands Plate (1400m)

#3 – Omanyala @ $4.50

Omanyala won at Wodonga on debut before placing at Sandown behind Golden Warrior.

The two-year-old is still maturing, and the son of Written Tycoon is bred to speed early in his career.

Barrier eight isn’t easy, but he should be right around the mark at each-way odds.

Race 7. (15:42) Happy 18th Cooper Barlow BM66 (1250m)

#2 – Niccolite @ $17.00

The five-year-old mare by Nicconi won well to kick off this preparation, and she’s good enough to get back to that form.

She is a five-time winner overall, and she has never raced at Morphettville, but it’s a track that should play into her hands.

The odds are worth taking in this race.

Race 8. (16:20) Grand Syndicates BM78 (2250m)

#5 – Dixie Whistler @ $6.00

Dixie Whistler capped off solid form with a win at Morphettville, and she loves running on the track.

She owns two wins and seven placings from 12 starts on the track, and she has yet to finish worse than third in six attempts at the distance.

2kg comes off her back, and she’s worth backing.

Race 9. (16:55) Sportsbet Same Race Multi BM66 (1400m)

#2 – Apache Star @ $27.00

Apache Star is a quality seven-time winner from 30 starts, and we’re backing him to improve his record.

The son of Star Witness looked good winning consecutive races last preparation, so anything close to that is good enough.

Getting 3kg off his back helps, so include him in picks.
