Canterbury racing tips

Race 1. (12:50) Dundeel at Arrowfield Maiden (1200m)

#2 – Cinsault @ $2.80

Cinsault is getting close to a win after four placings, and the James Cummings stable is firing this season.

The two-year-old filly by Brazen Beau comes off a third placing at Canterbury, and having experience at the track helps her cause.

She should show good barrier speed and attempt to lead throughout, and her odds could shorten considerably.

Race 2. (13:25) Drinkwise Maiden (1200m)

#5 – Jawharat Dubai @ $4.20

Jawharat Dubai has been a model of consistency throughout her career, including six placings from eight starts.

The three-year-old filly by Lonhro comes off consecutive second placings at Newcastle and Randwick, which is tidy form.

Getting in with 55kg should see her run close at each-way odds.

Race 3. (14:00) Paulele @ Darley BM64 (1550m)

#12 – She’s Unusual @ $3.70

She’s Unusual is a former Kiwi with two wins and two second placings from four starts, so she’s a nice type.

The four-year-old mare relishes racing on wet tracks, and she comes off a 3.3-length win at Newcastle against a small field.

There is more depth to this field and getting 2kg off her back makes her the one to beat.

Race 4. (14:35) Precise Air BM72 (1250m)

#1 – Diamond Model @ $4.60

Diamond Model doesn’t know how to run a bad race after posting three wins and six placings.

The four-year-old daughter of Akeed Mofeed comes off a second placing at Canterbury, and it’s only the big weight stopping her.

Given the each-way odds available, we’re happy to include her in selections.

Race 5. (15:10) James Squire BM72 (1250m)

#5 – Yasuke @ $3.70

Yasuke is better than his form suggests, so we’re happy to stick with him.

The four-year-old son of Maurice is a two-time winner from 10 starts, and most of his best form comes on soft tracks.

Barrier three is ideal, and it’s good to see some betting support for him.

Race 6. (15:45) Tab BM72 (1100m)

#5 – Chief Conductor @ $2.80

Chief Conductor is better for his fresh up run when fifth at Randwick behind some smart types.

The five-year-old son of I Am Invincible drops in class for this race, and having Tim Clark in the saddle helps his cause.

We’re not surprised by the odds, and he’s worth backing even at the short odds.

Race 7. (16:20) All Too Hard @ Vinery Stud BM72 (1550m)

#1 – The Creator @ $3.80

The Creator comes off consecutive wins at Warrnambool and Canterbury, and the Victorian could win again in Sydney.

He owns five wins from 11 starts overall, and he gets a valuable 3kg off his back to help with the big allotted weight.

After opening at $4.20, it’s not shocking to see most of the money come his way.
