Sandown racing tips & form
Race 1. (12:25) Nobody Does It Easier Maiden (1600m)
#9 – Perfume River @ $4.90
Perfume River is a two-time placegetter this preparation and it won’t take her long to break maidens.
The three-year-old filly by Akeed Mofeed ran third at Sandown last time out, and having experience on the track is a bonus.
Barrier four and the each-way odds appeal.
Race 2. (13:00) Become an MRC Member (1300m)
#1 – Clean Reef @ $3.20
Clean Reef did well to run third on debut at Sandown behind Blue Renegade, and that form stacks up brilliantly for this race.
Blue Renegade has kicked on with it in higher grades, and this race is there for the taking at midweek level.
We’re surprised by the drifting odds, but happy to take them.
Race 3. (13:35) Lockettled BM70 (1000m)
#11 – Mighty @ $3.10
Mighty hasn’t done much wrong throughout her career, and it’s good to see some betting support coming her way.
The three-year-old filly did most of her racing in Queensland before running second at Sandown last time out.
The spell should have done her some good, so put her on top.
Race 4. (14:10) Photo Finish Refund BM64 (1600m)
#1 – Furlanetto @ $6.00
Furlanetto has been in a winning mood after scoring three wins from her last four starts.
The three-year-old daughter of Zoustar won narrowly at Sandown last time out in this grade, so she can handle it.
Getting 3kg off her back and the inside draw makes her tough to beat.
Race 5. (14:45) Tile Importer BM70 (1300m)
#7 – Corner Off @ $5.50
Corner Off doesn’t know how to run a bad race after posting two wins and eight placings from 11 starts.
The four-year-old mare by Toronado is nearing a win this preparation after two placings, and she’s good enough to beat this field.
Take the each-way odds for a quality midweek type.
Race 6. (15:20) Stow Storage Solutions BM74 (1300m)
#7 – He’s Beset @ $3.40
He’s Beset won at Caulfield fresh up before placing at Sandown, so the form checks out.
The four-year-old former Kiwi defeated a handy field at Caulfield, which was a harder field than what he faces here.
We expect money to come for him on race day.
Race 7. (15:55) Tobin Brothers Celebrating Lives BM78 (1000m)
#8 – Mawallock @ $2.80
Class is with Malwallock, who owns four wins from six career starts.
The Lindsay Smith-trained mare won at Mornington and Hamilton before finishing fourth at Caulfield behind Mrs Chrissie.
That’s a good form guide, and she only needs luck from the wide barrier to figure in the finish.
Race 8. (16:30) Same Race Multi BM78 (1700m)
#2 – Falcon of Malta @ $6.00
Mike Moroney lines up Falcon of Malta, who comes off a tidy win at Bendigo.
The four-year-old gelding by Fiorente owns four wins and four placings from 11 starts, and he’s likely to sit back and storm home late.
He can be a risky bet, but given the odds available, he should be right in the mix.
