Sandown racing tips & form

Race 1. (12:25) Nobody Does It Better Maiden (1400m)

#4 – Fontaine Rouge @ $1.95

Fontaine Rouge finished third on debut at Cranbourne as a $1.40 favourite, so the betting support was there.

The three-year-old filly hit the line nicely, so rising in distance is ideal, and we’re prepared to give her another chance.

Getting $1.95 is value compared to her debut price.

Race 2. (13:00) Tile Importer Handicap (1400m)

#3 – Golden Warrior @ $4.40

Golden Warrior scored nicely last time out at Ballarat, and he could kick on with it.

The two-year-old colt by Snitzel won by 3.3 lengths as an odd-on favourite, and getting $4.40 this time around is good value.

Barrier four is ideal, and he should get a dream passage throughout.

Race 3. (13:35) Vale Kalashani Lad BM64 (1400m)

#5 – Kirin @ $5.50

Kirin did the job nicely on debut when scoring at Cranbourne by just over a length.

He sat on the speed and kicked close to the line, which is often the mark of a type who will rise through the grades.

He’s bred to want more distance, but staying at 1400m should suit him.

Race 4. (14:10) Fast Form BM64 (1600m)

#6 – Somebodytolove @ $2.35

Somebodytolove didn’t fully fire fresh up when fifth at Sandown, but she’s a smart filly in the making.

The three-year-old daughter of More than Ready won at Bendigo last preparation by a length to break maidens, and she has a good action.

With cover from the draw, she should be there to strike at the right time.

Race 5. (14:45) Happy 70th Birthday Peter Helme BM70 (2100m)

#4 – Rule of Time @ $7.00

Rule of Time won impressively at Warrnambool to start her preparation before finishing third at Sandown last start.

The four-year-old mare by Sebring was only a half-length behind the winner, and she showed good barrier speed.

She should head forward again off the inside draw.

Race 6. (15:20) Tobin Brothers Celebrating Lives BM70 (1600m)

#3 – She’s a Con @ $6.50

She’s a Con hasn’t shown her best form this preparation, but she’s good enough to figure in the finish at each-way odds.

She wasn’t all that far behind The Open last time out, and that form has since been franked, so she should enjoy this level of racing.

It’s an even betting field, and punters get odds worth taking.

Race 7. (15:55) Ive BM70 (1400m)

#7 – Riproar @ $5.50

We’re prepared to give the Kiwi another chance after a less than satisfactory campaign.

He looked good winning at Geelong in heavy conditions before struggling at Mornington and Flemington. However, he finished third at Caulfield behind The Shaper.

Dropping in class helps, and punters get better odds than expected for the former Guineas contender.

Race 8. (16:30) Same Race Multi BM70 (1000m)

#7 – Oak Hill @ $3.10

The Mike Moroney-trained gelding looks to have a bright future after posting two wins from four starts, including last time out at Sandown.

He scored by just under a length as a $9.50 chance, but punters weren’t going to get those generous odds again.

Damian Lane rides from a good draw, so include him in selections.
