Tamworth racing tips

Race 2. (12:55) Shay Brennan Constructions BM74 (1000m)

#6 – Bomarea @ $2.20

Bomarea is unbeaten from three fresh up starts, and she could hit the ground running again this preparation.

The three-year-old daughter of Dissident loves running over the distance as well, and getting 3kg off her back helps.

She has been prepared with a trial placing, which helps.

Race 3. (13:35) Kel Penfold Finance Maiden (1400m)

#5 – Homeland @ $2.45

Homeland is another runner for the Messara stable who is a good winning chance on Friday.

The three-year-old son of Shalaa comes off a fourth at Scone in consecutive runs, which is ideal form for this race.

Our only worry is the wide barrier, but he’s a nice type in the making.

Race 5. (14:45) Expressway Spares C1 (1200m)

#2 – Cool Man @ $4.00

Cool Man won by a nose on debut as a $1.70 favourite, so punters get better odds this time around.

The three-year-old son of Denman will need some luck from a wide barrier, but he looks to have more ability than most.

Take the each-way odds for the favourite.

Race 7. (16:05) Concrete Industry Supplies BM66 (1600m)

#9 – Bright Legend @ $4.20

Bright Legend was too good for them when winning at Taree as an odds-on favourite, which is a good sign.

The three-year-old filly by Churchill handles wet tracks, and we thought she would be at shorter odds for this race.

Getting in with 55kg adds to her appeal.

Ballarat racing tips

Race 1. (13:00) Global Turf Maiden (2100m)

#6 – Rich Champagne @ $2.50

Rich Champagne comes off a second placing at Echuca, which is a good form guide for this race.

The three-year-old gelding by Rich Enuff is a three-time second placegetter, so he’s knocking on the door of an overdue win.

He’s in a new stable, and that change could help.

Race 3. (14:00) Veolia Maiden (1500m)

#7 – Radstar @ $2.60

Radstar is a model of consistency with seven placings from 15 starts, including two second placings over the distance.

The five-year-old mare by Adelaide finished fifth last time out on a heavy track, and getting on a synthetic track helps.

Having John Allen in the saddle helps his chances.

Race 5. (15:00) Porter Plant BM70 (1200m)

#8 – Ruminate @ $3.00

Ruminate is knocking on the door after consecutive placings, and another win isn’t far off.

The three-year-old gelding by So You Think has yet to finish worse than third in five career starts at Ballarat, so that reads well.

Barrier four is ideal, and the odds are shortening.

Race 7. (16:00) Jockey Watch BM64 (1500m)

#5 – Dillinger @ $3.80

Dillinger is getting better with every run this preparation, including a second placing at Swan Hill last time out.

The four-year-old son of Zoustar owns a win and three placings from eight starts, which is a tidy form guide.

Money has come for him throughout the week.
