Te Rapa racing tips
—
Race 1. (9:03) Tab Hurdle (2800m)
#4 – Mont Ventoux @ $4.20
Mont Ventoux scored a narrow win last time out, and the eight-year-old is good enough to win again.
The son of Nom Du Jeu capped off four consecutive placings with a win, and he’s getting close to winning at Te Rapa.
Getting each-way odds should appeal to punters.
Race 2. (9:35) Irwin’s Truck & Bus Maiden (1600m)
#1 – Ever Charm @ $3.20
Ever Charm looks to cap off three consecutive placings with a win, and he’s worth backing again.
The three-year-old son of US Navy Flag ran second at Tauranga last time out, and having Warren Kennedy in the saddle helps.
Racing at Te Rapa should also help his chances.
Race 4. (10:45) Group One Turf Bar Sprint (1200m)
#2 – Wewillrock @ $1.65
Punters must take short odds for Wewillrock, but class is on his side.
He’s a six-time winner from 20 starts, who was considered good enough to compete in Australia last preparation.
Getting 3kg off his back off the inside draw is ideal, so include the odds in horse racing multis.
Race 5. (11:20) Jack & June Stewart Memorial 3YO (1200m)
#3 – Cornelia @ $3.20
Cornelia hasn’t done much wrong throughout her career, including a win on debut at Taupo before placing at Pukekohe and Tauranga.
The three-year-old by Swiss Ace was no match for the winner last time out, but she’s good enough to beat this field.
Take the odds with only 55kg on her back.

Hastings racing tips
—
Race 1. (9:55) Sign Central 2YO (1100m)
#7 – Rhythm ‘N’ Spice @ $3.40
Rhythm ‘N’ Spice ran fourth on debut at Pukekohe in heavy conditions, and that is a good form guide for racing at Hastings.
The two-year-old filly by Ardossan was under a length behind the winner, so getting an inside draw with 55kg on her back helps.
We’re not surprised by the shortening odds.
Race 2. (10:28) Livamol Classic on Sale BM65 (1200m)
#5 – Hey Hey Baby @ $3.80
Looking to get back to winning form is Hey Hey Baby, who won at Pukekohe and followed it up with consecutive placings.
The four-year-old mare by Belardo was close behind Baronet last time out, and a repeat of that effort should take her close.
Getting 4kg off her back makes her the one to beat.
Race 4. (11:34) Valley D’vine Restaurant Handicap (1400m)
#4 – Wessex @ $2.50
Money is with Wessex, and although she’s not in winning form recently, she has enough upside.
The two-time winner ran second at Pukekohe two back before placing at Tauranga, and those fields were tough.
This is slightly easier, and dropping to 50kg makes her a weighting special on Saturday.
Race 5. (12:10) Book Your Function BM65 (1650m)
#5 – Loch Katrine @ $4.20
Loch Katrine has been right around the mark without winning this campaign, but it’s only a matter of time.
The winter galloper likes racing on wet tracks, having posted a win and two placings on heavy surfaces.
She is a filly with a nice race in her, and this could be her day.
