Randwick racing tips

Race 1. (11:05) Petaluma Handicap (1100m)

#3 – Brave One @ $12.00

Brave One is a $300,000 purchase for Team Hawkes, and he could make a winning debut.

The two-year-old colt by Exceedance comes off a Rosehill trial win, which should be a good form guide.

It’s not an easy race to win on debut, but he’s worth including in selections in the opener.

Race 2. (11:40) Robrick Lodge Eremein BM72 (1300m)

#5 – Lady Boss @ $3.30

Lady Boss is a three-time winner from four starts, including a 2.5-length win at Canterbury last time out.

The three-year-old filly by Street Boss meets an even betting field here, and she’s one of the more up and coming types here.

We’re happy to keep backing her.

Race 3. (14:15) Midway BM72 (1200m)

#2 – Delexo @ $26.00

Delexo comes off a third at Dubbo, so he’s heading in the right direction.

The six-year-old son of Exosphere is a six-time winner throughout his career, and he won’t be worried by the wide draw.

Punters get each-way odds on race day.

Race 4. (12:50) Tab Highway C3 (1200m)

#10 – Clear Thinking @ $1.85

Clear Thinking is unbeaten after two starts at Scone, and she looks like a nice type in the making.

The four-year-old mare won by 2.3 lengths last time out, and she is bred to be better than average at this level.

Staying at 1200m is ideal, so she’s a runner worth including in multis.

Race 5. (13:25) Task BM78 (2000m)

#2 – Age of Sail @ $4.50

Age of Sail is a former European who has made a good impression since arriving in Australia.

The five-year-old son of Frankel owns three wins and eight placings from 16 starts, and he should enjoy racing at Randwick.

Having Nash Rawiller in the saddle adds to his appeal.

Race 6. (14:00) Thank You ATC Members BM78 (1100m)

#2 – Mogo Magic @ $3.30

Mogo Magic started his career with five consecutive wins before being beaten in his last three. However, another win isn’t far away.

The four-year-old son of Duporth comes off placings at Randwick and Canterbury, and he’s a two-time winner at Canterbury.

Getting 2kg off his back should put him right in the mix.

Race 7. (14:35) Racing for Good BM78 (1100m)

#1 – Shezanalister @ $4.60

Shezanalister kicked off her last preparation with three consecutive wins, and she could hit the ground running this time in.

The Bjorn Baker-trained mare won her only start at Randwick and she’s a two-time winner over the distance.

Zac Lloyd is riding well, so that’s another positive.

Race 8. (15:15) James Squire Winter Stakes (1400m)

#1 – Tamerlane @ $9.00

Tamerlane comes off two disappointing efforts, but being from the Cummings stable, he has improvement to come.

The six-year-old gelding by Golden Horn is a three-time winner at Randwick, and a nine-time winner overall.

His best form isn’t too far away, so include him in picks.

Race 9. (15:50) Catanach’s Jewellers BM88 (1200m)

#11 – Jedibeel @ $11.00

The Brad Widdup-trained gelding owns five wins and five placings from 12 starts, and he should be tough to beat.

He is already a two-time winner this campaign, including a fresh up win at Randwick-Kensington, so the form checks out.

The Kiwi-bred runner should handle the conditions best.

Race 10. (16:30) Tab BM78 (1400m)

#3 – Cool Jakey @ $6.50

Cool Jakey loves a wet track, as we saw last time out when winning at Warwick Farm in heavy conditions.

The four-year-old gelding by Pierro gets a valuable 3kg off his back, which could make all the difference.

This isn’t an easy field, but he has enough upside to go back-to-back.
