Sha Tin horse racing tips
—
Race 1. (18:00) The Purves Quaich (1200m)
#1 – Karate Express
Looking to remain unbeaten is Karate Express, who won by a length at Sha Tin on debut.
The two-year-old son of Alabama Express ran at $15.00 odds on that occasion, but punters should expect shorter odds.
It’s a harder field, but he goes on top.
Race 2. (18:30) The Swaine Cup (1200m)
#2 – Speedy Fortune
Speedy Fortune turned his form around when second last time out at Sha Tin, which is a good form guide.
The four-year-old son of Pariah was only two lengths behind the winner, and he doesn’t need to improve too much to beat this field.
Look for each-way odds on race day.
Race 3. (19:00) The Wong Cup (1600m)
#1 – Smart Beauty
Smart Beauty has been right around the mark this preparation, including a win at Sha Tin two starts back.
The five-year-old son of Dark Angel is only a three-time winner overall, but he has Zac Purton in the saddle.
That helps, and this race is there for the taking.
Race 4. (19:30) The Li Cup (1200m)
#3 – Robot Knight
Robot Knight is getting close to posting a win after three placings from six starts.
Five of those starts have come at Sha Tin, and he comes off a second placing at Sha Tin behind Aca Power.
It’s another good ride for Purton, so he’s worth backing.
Race 5. (20:00) The Arculli Trophy (1200m)
#5 – Dragon Joy
Dragon Joy hasn’t been far away in two career starts, including a fourth at Sha Tin last time out.
The three-year-old son of Saxon Warrior was only two lengths behind the winner, so the form checks out at this level.
He’s good enough to figure in the finish.
Race 6. (20:35) The Chan Trophy (1600m)
#6 – Lucky Touch
Lucky Touch is getting close to a win after two placings from four career starts.
The three-year-old son of Sweynesse was just behind them last time out at Sha Tin, and it’s good to see Purton sticking with him.
We expect money to come for him on race night.
Race 7. (21:05) The Stevenson Cup (1400m)
#3 – Sunlight Power
Sunlight Power owns three wins and three placings from 13 starts, so he’s worth sticking with on Saturday.
The four-year-old son of Capitalist won by just under a length last time out, and there’s no reason why he can’t win again.
Punters usually get each-way odds.
Race 8. (21:35) The IP Jug Handicap (1400m)
#2 – Chateauneuf
Chateauneuf won on debut at Sha Tin before running some nice races at Sha Tin and Happy Valley.
The three-year-old son of Fastnet Rock finished a length behind the winner last time out, and Purton gets another premium ride.
That could be enough to see him run close.
Race 9. (22:10) The Chow Silver Plate (1400m)
#2 – Gracious Express
Gracious Express is a former European who has raced well in Hong Kong, including a win two back at Sha Tin.
The four-year-old son of Churchill does his best racing on the track, and jumping from barrier three adds to his appeal.
Punters could get each-way odds on race night.
Race 10. (22:45) The Philip Chen Trophy (1200m)
#5 – Lo Pan Spirit
Lo Pan Spirit is a two-time winner from three starts, and that form is tough to overlook.
The three-year-old son of Charm Spirit won by 3.2 lengths last time out, which was an excellent victory.
It’s not an easy field, but he’s good enough to beat this field.
