Warrnambool racing tips
—
Race 1. (12:05) Western District Agricentre Maiden (3200m)
#3 – Hit the Road Jack @ $2.70
Hit the Road Jack improved when fourth at Caulfield, which is an ideal form guide for this race.
The seven-year-old son of Jakkalberry is a seven-time winner overall, and going over the jumps should be right up his alley.
Money has come for him throughout the week, so put on top.
Race 3. (13:20) Matthew Williams Racing Hurdle (3200m)
#2 – Alakahan @ $2.80
Alakahan won well three starts back before adding placings at Sandown and Warrnambool.
The eight-year-old is a classy stayer, and racing over the jumps doesn’t do his chances any harm, so we’re backing him.
Getting anything better than $2.00 is a good price for a runner of his class.
Race 4. (14:00) Carter Group Kevin Lafferty Hurdle (3200m)
#7 – Prismatic @ $2.25
The New Zealand runner won well two back before placing behind Fabalot at Warrnambool.
It was a solid effort in defeat, and although he faces Fabalot again, he gets in much better on the weights.
Take the odds before they firm on race day.
Race 6. (15:20) Hammonds Thackeray Steeplechase (3450m)
#3 – Wil John @ $3.10
Wil John couldn’t have been more impressive when winning at Hamilton by nine lengths, so he’s tough to bet against.
He demolished his rivals and never gave them a chance, so the eight-year-old is well worth backing again.
He’s a four-time winner on the track, which adds to his appeal.

Race 1. (11:15) Kusciuszko Tickets on Sale Maiden (1020m)
#2 – Ferinzo @ $2.15
Ferinzo is on debut for Jake Hull following some solid trial efforts.
The two-year-old gelding by Cosmic Force won a trial at Wyong by 3.8 lengths, which is an excellent form guide.
After opening at $3.00, his odds have firmed considerably.
Race 3. (12:25) Southside Pharmacy Maiden (1725m)
#13 – Sirius Flyer @ $1.90
Knocking on the door is Sirius Flyer, who comes off consecutive second placings.
The three-year-old filly by Zoustar was only a half-length behind the winner last time out, and a repeat of that is good enough.
Take the short odds and include her in multis.
Race 5. (13:45) Grafton Gas Belflyer C3 (1120m)
#4 – Dusan @ $4.80
Dusan comes off consecutive wins at a much easier level, but the three-year-old is worth backing.
The son of Exosphere won by three lengths in BM58 class last start, so he’s good enough to handle this level of racing.
Getting 2kg off his back adds to his appeal.
Race 7. (15:05) MacLean Hotel C1 (1195m)
#2 – The Lion’s Gate @ $5.50
The Lion’s Gate did well to run third fresh up at Murwillumbah, and he could improve on that.
The four-year-old gelding by Vancouver ran second at his only start at Grafton, so having that experience helps his cause.
Given the odds available, punters should include him in picks.
