Morphettville Parks will play host to a nine event meeting on Saturday. The weather is fine, the track is soft (5) and the rail is out six metres from the 1000m-Winning Post; Out three metres for the remainder.

5 Artillery (Bet Now: $3.80) has to be given another look. Michael Hickmott trained gelding that was kept quite safe in betting when debuting over 1300m here three weeks ago where he had the suck run in behind but didn’t quite finish the race off and you’d have to mark him down as slightly disappointing. Had trialled up really well prior, so I have to give him another look.
Danger
6 Six Stars (Bet Now: $2.45) has had a few chances to break the maiden tag but that said, he’s nearing a win. He had the suck run in transit three weeks back here and tried hard but had no answers late for the finale of impressive winner Nicish. Genuine horse who can settle forward and the depth here, overall, isn’t overly deep.
Long Shot
10 Teardrop Rotation (Bet Now: $4.00) has to be given another look. She ran over 1000m two weeks back at Murray Bridge in a 2YO race when five/six wide the trip and that hard run just told late in the piece, but that said, she was far from disgraced. If she can get a more economical run in transit, she’s dangerous at odds.

1 Montepulciano (Bet Now:Â $11.00) is racing like he will appreciate a rise in trip. He ran over 1950m here three weeks ago where he got back to near last in the run in a race dominated on speed and despite making up some ground, he was never a winning factor behind Exalted Fire. Like him up in trip, not a strong race and can settle much closer.
Danger
2 Lake’s Folly (Bet Now: $3.90) will put himself on speed and look to give his all. He did that at Murray Bridge a fortnight back over 2500m and was as game as ever in defeat but had no answers late for a class stayer at this level, Hasta La Fiorente. He has that 2500m run under the belt, which holds him in good stead.
Long Shot
5 Wolf Prince (Bet Now:Â $6.50) is a very interesting runner. Grant Young trains and I say interesting because Young sent him to Eric Musgrove to have a couple of trials over the jumps, potentially to try and sharpen him up. His runs prior were so so but the two jumps trials were solid and they can work wonders with a horse to try and get them going again.

2 Wonderwomen (Bet Now: $6.00) is third up from a spell and should just about be at peak fitness. She comes through the Keep Reading race from a few weeks back where she was off the speed and chasing from a fair way out but she kept on and wasn’t too bad in defeat behind the Team Jolly sprinter. Hard fit now and her best is good enough.
Danger
7 Tosen Water (Bet Now: $5.50) is capable with her best. This mare is four weeks between runs since racing over 1200m on the course proper here. She got back to near last in the run and did make up some ground but was never really threatening behind impressive winner Pure Paradise. Break between runs should be fine and she’ll be strong late.
Long Shot
11 King Moya (Bet Now: $10.00) has been a model of consistency in recent times for Jon O’Connor. He ran third at Murray Bridge a fortnight back. He got a fair way back in the run to near last but tracked up and loomed to win but couldn’t quite finish the job when third to Three Rings. Good record on the Parks track and this isn’t a deep race.

Fitter and up to 1400m are two big ticks for 1 Brave Star (Bet Now:Â $5.50). Phillip Stokes trained gelding that resumed four weeks ago over 1200m on the course proper where he got back in the run and while he was never a winning threat, he did make up ground and was pretty good in defeat behind Pure Paradise. Better set up here and has a touch of quality. Leading contender.
Danger
3 Maracourt (Bet Now: $3.20) for me. Michael Hickmott trained gelding that ran two weeks ago at Murray Bridge where he got into a dream spot in transit before angling clear and looked the winner when he presented but just found one better in Outta Compton. He’s bursting to win one and I think he gets a great chance here.
Long Shot
4 Chipson (Bet Now: $7.00) is knocking on the door to win. He ran over this trip at Murray Bridge two weeks ago where he got back to near last in the run and did make up solid headway in the straight when second to Bulls On Parade. He has that 1400m run under the belt, so he should be stronger at the end and this isn’t a race full of depth.

9 Merchant Boss (Bet Now: $4.60) isn’t far off a win for Travis Doudle. He was a forgive a fortnight back at Murray Bridge when wide no cover throughout and that hard run told late in the piece, just feeling the pinch late behind Bulls On Parade. He does save his best for the Parks track and despite 1550m being a query, he is in the mix for sure.
Danger
8 Bonnie Gangster (Bet Now:Â $21.00) should appreciate a rise to 1550m. She resumed three weeks ago over 1250m on the Parks track here where she got back in a fast run race and found the line well enough I thought in a solid return behind in form mare Episodic. Much better set up this time around and with enormous upside to come, she rates highly.
Long Shot
6 Smiling Assassin (Bet Now: $41.00) likely needs more racing and more distance but he does have a bit of quality on his side against these. He resumed two weeks back over 1400m at Murray Bridge where he got back to last in the run, as expected, but did make up some ground and wasn’t too bad in defeat for a stayer. Not sure he wins, but for wider exotics, he could be entertained.

7 Runaway Statement (Bet Now: $4.80) has an engine under the hood for Phillip Stokes and confident she measures up. She resumed over 1200m in a Cranbourne maiden where she led throughout and was dominant. Yes, the pattern for the night racing season has been on speed, but even allowing for that, she was impressive. Harder here, but good racing style, she’ll take running down.
Danger
3 Hard Prince (Bet Now: $10.00) has done little wrong this time in and in an open race, I am giving him respect. He spanked them to break the maiden tag at Strathalbyn two back before going to Murray Bridge where he got off the speed and kept finding the line in a good effort behind Ocean Blast. Fresh legs and back to 1300m, his own age, he’ll be around the mark.
Long Shot
12 Lapilli (Bet Now: $16.00) looks to be in for a good prep for Team Jolly. This three year old resumed at Murray Bridge a fortnight when off the speed and kept chasing in a solid return when fourth to Let’s Go Dowb, beaten under two lengths. Fitter and up in trip, depth here not as deep, she can bounce back.

3 Validated (Bet Now: $6.00) is the way I am leaning. Team Blanch trained gelding that ran three weeks ago at Flemington where he got back to near last in the run and while he was never a winning threat, he did make up ground and was far from disgraced in defeat behind Who Dares. Good record on the Parks track, he’ll take holding out.
Danger
5 Bellinger (Bet Now: $3.00) is flying for Team Hayes and he is one of the hardest to beat. He ran in the Red Hot Nicc race from a few weeks ago at Caulfield. He got too far back in the run and gave the leaders too much head start but I loved the way he found the line late in the piece. The way he’s racing, he has to be respected.
Long Shot
10 Rockstar Meggsy (Bet Now: $15.00) has a good record on the Parks track and off last run, I think she is in with a shout. She ran two weeks back at Murray Bridge behind Press Down where she was back, wide with cover, and tried her guts out, but had no answers for the sustained finale of the eventual winner. If she can settle closer in the run, she’ll take holding out.

8 Foxy Femme (Bet Now: $6.00) doesn’t have the best of racing patterns but she can launch at them late, as seen two weeks ago at Murray Bridge when back near last but got clear and launched late, finishing a close up fourth to the in form mare Geminga. Good track/distance record and if she’s within range 400m out, I think she has the finale to win.
Danger
4 Esseffninety (Bet Now: $4.00) is three weeks between runs for Kennewell/Yeomans since resuming here where she had a dream run in transit off the speed before angling into clear air and did look the winner but she couldn’t quite see it through, nabbed late by Storyteller. Better for the run under the belt, she appeals as a key chance.
Long Shot
11 Shadowfax (Bet Now: $6.50) is a Chris Bieg trained three year old that comes through the Geminga race from a fortnight back where he had a suck run in transit and seemingly had his chance but that said, he was game in defeat and close up behind the in form mare. Only has to hold his form and he’ll be around the mark.

2 Chambers Bay (Bet Now: $5.00) is racing in a purple patch for Phillip Stokes. Dominant win at Gawler two back before racing here three weeks ago where he got back but found the line with real purpose late when second to all the way winner Hot Off, who had complete control in front and was too good. Only has to hold his form and he’ll be around the mark.
Danger
3 El Capony (Bet Now:Â $6.50) looks like he is enjoying life for Bain/Taylor. He resumed three weeks ago here, first run for the new stable, and was given a pearl by Opperman but just found one better in the shape of in form mare Episodic. Better set up here, depth not as deep and with good upside to come, rates highly for sure.
Long Shot
9 Frankie’s Me Dad (Bet Now:Â
$SP.00) is an interesting runner. Formerly with Ciaron Maher, this mare now finds herself with Michael Hickmott. Her best form is likely at 2000m+, but she does have a touch of quality about her when right and the stable can improve a tried horse, so I reckon watch the market and see what it does with her.
