A bumper eleven race meeting has been set down for Randwick on Saturday. The weather is fine, the track is soft (7) and the rail is in the true position for the entire circuit.

6 Sacred Fort (Bet Now: $12.00) is the one for me in the opener. Ciaron Maher trained juvenile that resumed in the rich Inglis 2YO at Scone where he got back to near last in the run but charged to the line late and was quite good in defeat behind Overfull. Bred to swim, fitter, has run well at this level and higher, can settle closer…hard to beat.
Danger
7 Madrina (Bet Now: $5.00) looks the leader and will take running down, especially if the track is playing on speed. She attempted to lead throughout at Canterbury last time and gave a decent enough kick but couldn’t quite see it through, proving no match late for impressive Tehina. Down in the weights after the claim, she’ll give a good sight.
Long Shot
9 Shamadan (Bet Now: $4.60) commands some form of respect for Matty Dunn. Market wanted her with a fair amount of confidence when debuting on her home deck at Murwillumbah and while she didn’t beat much, the arrogance of the win was something else and she was quite impressive the way she put them away. Harder here, but think she can measure up.
Race 2. (11:00) Midway (Bm72) 1600m

3 Dimaggio (Bet Now: $23.00) is dangerous with his best. Kim Waugh trained gelding that comes through the Bakerloo race from two weeks back here. He got off the speed and while he was never threatening, he kept chasing and was good in defeat behind the Paul Perry runner. I think with a more positive ride, he’s certainly going well enough to be dangerous.
Danger
6 State Of America (Bet Now: $10.00) looks to be in for a really good prep for David Payne and should take a power of beating here. He resumed in the Midway at Hawkesbury a few weeks ago where he got back to near last in the run but I really liked the way he finished his race off in a strong return behind Always Sure, finishing a close up third. Fitter, like him a lot here.
Long Shot
10 Magnatear (Bet Now: $13.00) is three weeks between runs for Sam Kavanagh since racing in the Midway at Scone when on speed throughout and he tried his guts out but he just didn’t have the finale to go with Sonofdec, who gave them a start and a beating in an electric performance. Only has to hold his form and he’ll be around the mark.
Race 3. (11:35) Tab Highway Hcp (C3) 1100m

1 Ramones (Bet Now: $6.00) puts himself on speed and will give his all, which was the case two weeks ago in a Highway and he gave a very strong kick but couldn’t quite see it through, run down late when a close up fourth to Miss Jennifer. Back to 1100m, good racing style, he’ll look the winner at some stage I am sure.
Danger
11 Tai Lung (Bet Now: $11.00) is dangerous if he can be within range on the turn. He just got a bit too far out of his ground in the Highway here a fortnight back but I did like the way he found the line late in the piece behind Miss Jennifer, beaten a half length in a blanket finish. Just wants to settle closer, get a drag, and launch late.
Long Shot
18 King Rupert (Bet Now: $26.00) is a Todd Howlett trained gelding that I am convinced has an engine under the hood. Market kept him safe in betting when resuming at Tamworth over 1000m. He got back off the speed and while he was never really a winning threat, he kept finding the line and the run had good merit. Proven at Highway level previously, he’s in the mix.

14 Bestower (Bet Now: $7.50) is a filly I do have plenty of time for and I do think getting to 2000m will be ideal for her. Her last couple of runs have come over 1800m, the latest being two weeks ago here, and while she has been racing well, closing off nicely, I do think she has been racing like she wants more, which she gets here, and if she can settle that pair or two closer, she’ll be hard to hold out.
Danger
3 Ravello (Bet Now: $20.00) is a horse who I am sure thought could have headed towards the QLD Derby but the stable elected to tackle these benchmark races and not break his heart in the G1 race. He ran over 1800m a fortnight back here behind Invincible Spy and kept finding the line with purpose in a pretty good effort behind the GaiBott horse. Fitter and up in trip, he only runs well.
Long Shot
1 Invincible Spy (Bet Now: $4.80) has to lump the weight but there is a reason for that; his recent winning deeds have been impressive. Loved the way he toughed it out to win the Wagga Guineas two back before proving that was no fluke with a win over 1800m here, toughing it out strongly from the front to fend them off and win. 2000m is the slight query but with his racing pattern, he’ll give himself every chance.
Race 5. (12:45) Foundation Female Member (Bm78) 1600m

2 Principessa (Bet Now: $27.00) should love getting to the mile for Joe Pride. This mare resumed over 1400m here two weeks ago where she just looked in need of the run and that’s how it eventuated but she was still far from disgraced in defeat behind Konasana. She has good upside to come, she’ll love getting the rise in trip and does have a touch of class/quality.
Danger
1 Missy Moola (Bet Now: $5.50) looks to be in for a good prep. GaiBott trained mare that resumed behind Konasana here a fortnight back. She attempted to lead throughout and did give a decent kick but just couldn’t quite see it through, run down late by the Walker filly. Fitter, up in trip and good racing style, she can bounce back.
Long Shot
3 Bakerloo (Bet Now: $14.00) has done a super job this time in for Paul Perry and it’s hard to ignore how well she’s going. Loved the way she let down to win fresh on the home deck at Newcastle before going to the Midway here where she got better as the race went on and was impressive late in winning. Confident she measures up.

13 The Black Cloud (Bet Now: $3.40) is a quality filly for Joe Pride that is heading in the right direction and potentially is destined for better races than this. She resumed two weeks ago at this track/distance where she gave them a start and a beating, launching late and she was far too good in a sharp display. She can settle much closer and still be effective at the end. The one to beat.
Danger
10 Passeggiata (Bet Now: $5.00) is a speed demon for Bjorn Baker who will look the winner for a long way. That was indeed the case a fortnight back at this track/distance and gave a strong kick from the front but had no answers for the finale of The Black Cloud. Her jump/run racing style gives herself every chance to see this out and win.
Long Shot
18 Accapella Sun (Bet Now: $14.00) is a Matty Dale trained mare that resumes. This girl is first up, having not raced since Feb 24 at Rosehill where she got back off the speed and kept chasing in a really good effort behind then in form mare Gently Rolled. Not a noted fresh horse but loves wet ground and is right down in the weights.

12 Estadio Mestala (Bet Now: $5.00) is a nice horse for Joe Pride. He resumed in the Takeover Target at Newcastle a few weeks back where he was one of the runs of the meeting I thought, closing off with real purpose late in the piece behind all the way winner Semillion, who had complete control in front. Fitter and up in trip, he’ll be hard to hold out.
Danger
16 Kayobi (Bet Now: $4.20) is three weeks between runs for Sam Kavanagh since contesting the Luskin Star at Scone where he got into a decent spot just off the speed and he tried his guts out but just found a couple better when a close up fourth to Coastwatch. He was around six weeks between runs there so with room for improvement, he appeals.
Long Shot
3 Gravina (Bet Now: $7.50) loves getting his toe in the ground and he does tend to save his best for Randwick. He comes through the Luskin Star where he got back in the run but finished off hard, just missing out on the win in a really good effort when third to Coastwatch. Hard fit now, can settle closer, hard to beat.

6 Sir Lucan (Bet Now: $4.60) is a few weeks between runs for GaiBott since contesting the Gosford Cup at Newcastle where he was enormous in defeat. He was wide no cover throughout before taking the front and kicked clear, but given the amount of work he did, he just couldn’t quite see it through, run down late by Hezashocka. Like him back to 2000m, firmer deck and has upside.
Danger
1 Sky Lab (Bet Now: $8.50) has always had the talent to be a good horse but he just hasn’t produced it on a consistent basis. But, it was a big return from him when taking out the Scone Cup, giving them a start and a beating and although he had the momentum/best ground, the win was impressive. Fitter and up in trip, he only runs well.
Long Shot
14 Foniska (Bet Now: $67.00) is an improving type for Chris Waller I feel. Thrown in the deep end a few weeks back at Rosehill when making her Australian debut and failed to make an impact in a fast run race behind Waterford. Might need more racing and time, but she does have good overseas form so I am not penning her.

Honestly, I think it is a case of good luck beating 16 Iowna Merc (Bet Now: $5.00). This guy resumed three weeks ago in the Ortensia at Scone where I thought King absolutely carved her. Just dragged back after jumping well and gave up all hope. The finale was incredible I thought. Just needs to settle closer, harness his energy, and I think he’ll be far too good for this lot.
Danger
1 Insurrection (Bet Now:
$SP.00) is a big improver for Michael Freedman. He comes through the Ortensia at Scone where he paraded like he may have needed the run and that’s how it eventuated, just feeling the pinch late in the piece after sitting on speed behind Opal Ridge. Very genuine horse and better for the run, he appeals.
Long Shot
12 Quick Tempo (Bet Now: $13.00) loves getting his toe in so with that in mind, I do think he commands serious respect. He tried his guts out in the Ortensia and kept finding the line, but just found one better in quality mare Opal Ridge. Good record at Randwick, he swims and should be strong at the end. Dangerous for sure.

9 Steely (Bet Now: $41.00) has a good second up record and he does like Randwick. He resumed three weeks back at Scone in the Luskin Star where he was last in the run and while he was never a winning threat, I thought he found the line with purpose in a strong return behind Coastwatch. He is a winner on heavy ground, he has good upside and can settle much closer.
Danger
4 Bold Mac (Bet Now: $27.00) is a sneaky chance at odds for Chris Waller. He ran in the Scone Cup…well, ran…I say barrier trial. Not much intent I thought throughout and seemingly had plenty to offer. Good to/through the line, and I am thinking that a truly run mile will suit, and this isn’t an overly deep contest. Knockout hope.
Long Shot
5 Grebeni (Bet Now: $11.00) is third up from a spell and should just about be at peak fitness. He ran a few weeks back in The Coast where he wasn’t 100% happy on the bog surface but that said, I thought he was a touch disappointing and I did expect more given what a class horse he is. Third up, hard fit, he’s an improver.

11 Xidaki (Bet Now: $6.50) is a three year old I have time for and back to this level, he appeals. He ran in the Gold Coast Guineas at the Sunny Coast where he loomed as some sort of threat early on in the straight but the wheels began to spin on the wet ground and he couldn’t pick up. Up in trip I like, firmer deck and has a touch of quality.
Danger
18 Green Shadows (Bet Now: $10.00) is dangerous with his best. Superb first up winner at Warwick Farm before a couple of runs where he has been solid each time with excuses, the latest at Newcastle behind Scarlet Oak. Back to Rosehill, firmer deck, genuine tempo (hopefully), he can take this out.
Long Shot
1 Hollywood Hero (Bet Now: $6.50) is a beauty for Bjorn Baker and appeals as a key chance. He come through The Coast at Newcastle when outclassed on paper but he ran a super race in defeat when a closing fourth to Magnaspin, working home strongly against the track pattern. back to this level, he’s one of the leading chances.
