Belmont racing tips

Race 1. (13:59) Amelia Park Plate (1000m)

#1 – West Star

West Star won well at Belmont last time out by 2.8 lengths, so he’s worth sticking with.

The two-year-old son of Playing God paid $2.50 on that occasion, and we don’t think this field is much harder than that.

Take the odds bookmakers release in the opening race.

Race 2. (14:34) Bisley Workwear BM78 (1000m)

#2 – Yonga Lass

Yonga Lass owns six wins from 12 starts overall, and the four-year-old mare has plenty of upside.

The daughter of Universal Ruler didn’t fire in her only attempt at Belmont, but having William Pike in the saddle helps.

We expect her to be fighting out the finish in a tough race.

Race 3. (15:09) National Pump 1MW (1000m)

#3 – Berbere

Berbere ended last preparation with a win at Belmont, so he could pick up where he left off.

The four-year-old son of Gingerbread Man owns three wins from six starts overall, and having two wins at Belmont is ideal.

Pike rides, and he adds to his good book of rides.

Race 4. (15:45) Tab Touch Winter Series Heat (1200m)

#3 – Capricorn Man

Capricorn Man owns four wins and three placings from 13 starts, including three wins over the distance.

The four-year-old son of Maschino ran third fresh up at Belmont, and he’s good enough to improve on that effort.

Getting the inside draw with weight off his back helps.

Race 5. (16:24) Studco BM66 (1200m)

#2 – Twain’s Angel

Twain’s Angel is unbeaten from five career starts, including three runs at Belmont.

The three-year-old filly could be a star in the making after beating Brave Strike as a $1.55 chance last time out.

Getting weight off her back adds to her appeal.

Race 6. (17:04) Peters Investments BM66 (2200m)

#5 – Citino

Citino is a consistent type, and although only having two wins from 16 starts, he’s a good each-way bet.

The four-year-old son of Demerit runs well with Chris Parnham in the saddle, and punters should get each-way odds on race day.

He’s worth including in selections.

Race 7. (17:40) Free Entry to Belmont BM72 (1400m)

#5 – Classic Rogue

Classic Rogue is better for two runs this preparation, and it’s about time he got back to winning form.

The seven-year-old son of Dick Turpin owns a win and two placings at Belmont, so his form here is good enough.

The drop in weight adds to our confidence levels.

Race 8. (18:15) Raconteur Stakes (1400m)

#10 – Generosity @ $3.80

Generosity capped off four consecutive placings with a win at Belmont, and she’s good enough to kick on with it.

The three-year-old filly owns two wins and seven placings from 11 starts, and she’s yet to finish worse than second in four starts at Belmont.

Take the odds before they shorten close to start time.

Race 9. (18:50) Mrs Mac’s 1MW (1400m)

#3 – Becalotti

Becalotti has been close to winning this campaign, including three consecutive placings and a fourth.

The four-year-old mare by A Lot is a two-time winner from seven starts at Belmont, so the track form is ideal.

Barrier 12 doesn’t make it easy, but he only needs a touch of luck to go close.
