Eagle Farm racing tips

Race 1. (11:43) Mittys BM90 (1810m)

#10 – Age of Sail @ $2.90

Age of Sail has the form on the board with three wins and seven placings from 15 starts.

The five-year-old gelding by Frankel won at Warwick Farm before finishing second at Rosehill behind Kettle Hill.

That’s solid form, and we’re happy to include him in selections in the opening race.

Race 2. (12:18) U&U Recruitment C6 (1200m)

#4 – Millane @ $3.90

Millane opened at $5.50 before firming throughout the week, and we’re not surprised.

The four-year-old gelding by Zoustar needs luck from the wide draw over this distance, but class is on her side.

Having James McDonald in the saddle is a bonus.

Race 3. (12:53) Nova 106.9 The Phoenix (1500m)

#8 – Aemelius @ $1.65

Aemelius won by a length at Randwick last time out, and that form is good for this level of racing.

The two-year-old filly by Hellbent runs at very short odds here, but she’s worth including in horse racing multis.

We’re not surprised by the short odds, and she could firm to around $1.40 on race day.

Race 4. (13:28) Ladbrokes Lightning Handicap (1000m)

#7 – Golden Boom @ $3.50

There hasn’t been much betting support for Golden Boom after opening at $3.10, but he could be the best horse in the race.

The four-year-old gelding by Spirit of Boom won by a half-length last time out at Doomben, and he’s yet to miss a win or place at Eagle Farm.

Having the experience of Craig Williams in the saddle helps.

Race 5. (14:03) Nuturf Spear Chief Handicap (1500m)

#3 – Yellow Brick @ $2.70

Yellow Brick should have won this preparation, but we’re prepared to back him here.

The four-year-old son of The Mission is a six-time winner from 14 starts, and he has class on his side with two wins at Eagle Farm.

With McDonald riding, this is his race to lose.

Race 6. (14:38) Ascot Green Queensland Day Stakes (1200m)

#1 – Hedged @ $2.50

Hedged is a smart type in the making with three wins and three placings from nine starts.

The three-year-old son of Capitalist ran third at Caulfield last time out as a $1.80 chance, so the odds are better here.

Racing in Queensland is ideal, and the odds are too good to pass up.

Race 7. (15:13) Magic Millions National Classic (1600m)

#1 – La Crique @ $2.15

Class is with the Kiwi runner, who is a proven Group 1 winner.

That’s good form for this race, and the five-year-old mare owns seven wins and eight placings from 19 starts.

Money has come for her throughout the week, which is a good sign.

Race 8. (15:52) Queensland Oaks (2400m) – GROUP 1

Read our full Queensland Oaks preview here – including best bets, trifecta and first four picks!

Race 9. (16:29) The Star Moreton Cup (1200m)

#2 – Mazu @ $5.50

Mazu is a wet tracker, and he can bounce back after finishing seventh behind Bella Nipotina at Group 1 level last start.

The five-year-old gelding is classy at best, and he only needs the sting out of the ground to show his best form.

The each-way odds are worth snapping up against this level of opposition.
