Flemington horse racing tips

Race 1. (11:50) RDA Peninsula Jenny Stidson (1200m)

#1 – Pieces @ $3.50

Pieces won well two back at Newcastle, and form in New South Wales should stack up nicely.

The two-year-old son of Frosted owns two wins and two placings from five starts, which is a tidy record against this field.

There are no superstars here, so he could capitalise.

Race 2. (12:25) RDA Horsham Jan Croser Plate (1400m)

#9 – Moor Mumm @ $5.50

Moor Mumm is running in career-best form with three wins and two placings from her last five starts.

The four-year-old mare by Astern owns a win and a placing at Flemington, and having form on the track is a bonus.

Getting 3kg off her back is another positive, so the each-way odds are better than expected.

Race 3. (13:00) RDAV Mary Longden Mile (1600m)

#11 – Craig @ $4.40

Craig ran third in the UK on debut before coming to Australia and winning at Bendigo by 4.3 lengths.

UK form stacks up well in Australia, and although he meets harder opposition, that was an impressive performance.

55kg on his back adds to his appeal, and the $4.40 could shorten on race day.

Race 4. (13:35) RDAV Sally Francis BM84 (2520m)

#3 – Quantum Cat @ $3.30

Quantum Cat is getting close to winning in Australia after consecutive second placings at Caulfield and Randwick.

The four-year-old gelding by Kitten’s Joy was only a nose behind the winner last time out, which is a quality form guide.

He’s unbeaten at the distance, so punters should be confident.

Race 5. (14:10) RDA Moorabin Jane Baker (2000m)

#2 – Lady in Pink @ $7.00

Lady in Pink won well at Sandown last time out, and she’s good enough to win again.

The three-year-old filly by Pariah won by 1.5 lengths, and getting 3kg off her back adds to her appeal.

She only needs luck from the wide draw, but she has time to find cover over this distance.

Race 6. (14:45) RDA Dalyesford Lesley Hewitt (2000m)

#12 – Silent Surrente @ $4.00

Silent Surrente is a five-time winner overall, and she’s getting close to scoring after three consecutive placings.

The five-year-old mare by Fiorente handles all track conditions, and getting in with 53kg makes her tough to beat.

Her odds are drifting but punters shouldn’t be worried.

Race 7. (15:20) Tab Trainer’s Trust Handicap (1100m)

#1 – Steel City @ $9.00

Punters get value odds for Steel City, who isn’t a consistent filly, but the talent is there.

The three-year-old filly won at Rosehill last preparation when beating a quality field, but her form since has been terrible.

Having won a jumpout, we’re prepared to give her another chance.

Race 8. (16:00) RDA Pakenham Trophy BM84 (1400m)

#14 – Extratwo @ $8.50

Value is with Extratwo, who has already won three times throughout this preparation.

The four-year-old mare by Toronado is a five-time winner from 12 starts, including at Caulfield two starts back.

The odds are too good to pass up against an even field.

Race 9. (16:34) RDA Oaklands Trophy BM84 (1200m)

#17 – Losesomewinmore @ $4.00

Losesomewinmore is a nice type in the making after posting three wins and two second placings from five starts.

The son of All Too Hard gets in with a luxury weight, and he won his only start at Flemington, so he has no problem handling the straight.

Take the odds before they shorten.
