Morphettville racing tips

Race 1. (12:02) Canadian Club Maiden (1250m)

#6 – Six Stars @ $2.30

Six Stars is nearing a win after finishing second last time out at Morphettville, and he’s worth following.

The three-year-old gelding by Impending owns three placings from six starts overall, which is a tidy record.

Take the odds before they shorten on race day.

Race 2. (12:37) Sportsbet BM78 (2250m)

#2 – Lake’s Folly @ $4.40

Lake’s Folly is an experienced type with 68 starts for eight wins and 22 placings, and he got back to solid form last time out.

The seven-year-old finished second at Murray Bridge, and the son of Pierro is easily good enough to improve enough to win.

Getting 3kg off his back is a bonus.

Race 3. (13:12) Same Race Multi Handicap (1250m)

#2 – Wonderwomen @ $7.00

Wonderwomen is better for two runs back from a spell, and she is good enough to handle this field.

The five-year-old mare by Super One owns a win and a placing from four starts at Morphettville, which is tidy form.

Barrier two is ideal, and we’re taking the each-way odds.

Race 4. (13:47) Winning Edge Presentations BM64 (1400m)

#1 – Brave Star @ $5.50

Brave Star is taking a while to get back to winning form, but we’re sticking with him.

The six-year-old gelding gets 3kg off his back to help with the big weight, and that should take him close here.

Getting each-way odds is worth including him in selections.

Race 5. (14:22) Sportsbet Jockey Watch BM68 (1550m)

#1 – Jenkins @ $3.30

Jenkins got back to winning form at Morphettville last time out, and he’s good enough to win again.

The eight-year-old son of Pierro owns two wins and two placings from six starts on the track, and there’s nothing wrong with that form.

Getting a 3kg claimer in the saddle helps.

Race 6. (14:57) Hahn BM64 (1300m)

#2 – Hot Off @ $4.00

Hot Off owns two wins from his last three starts, including a win on this track last time out.

The three-year-old gelding by Press Statement is unbeaten in two starts over the distance, which is the best form guide.

He’s another runner getting weight off his back, so that helps.

Race 7. (15:32) Dominant BM78 (1250m)

#5 – Bellinger @ $3.00

The six-year-old is looking to cap off three consecutive placings with a win, and this field is there for the taking.

He does his best racing at Morphettville and over the distance, so there is plenty of upside with the current favourite.

We’re taking the $3.00 before his odds shorten.

Race 8. (16:12) Fast Form BM62 (1000m)

#2 – Sunzou @ $4.40

Sunzou won well three back at Morphettville before adding consecutive second placings at Morphettville and Murray Bridge.

The four-year-old son of Zoustar has yet to finish worse than second on the track and getting weight off his back helps.

Punters get each-way odds to enjoy.

Race 9. (16:52) Thomas Farms C2 (1300m)

#1 – Layeruponlayer @ $1.75

Layeruponlayer is shooting for three consecutive wins after scoring at Ballarat by two lengths last time out.

The five-year-old gelding by Stratum Star opened at $2.00 before shortening immediately, so punters have climbed in.

Any track conditions play into his hands, so he’s a good bet.
