Randwick racing tips

Race 1. (10:30) Schweppes Handicap (1100m)

#7 – Madrina @ $5.00

Madrina is getting close to a win after three placings from four starts and getting 2kg off her back helps.

The two-year-old filly by Street Boss showed good pace at Canterbury last time out and dropping to 54.5kg should take her close.

Punters get each-way odds to snap up.

Race 2. (11:00) Midway BM72 (1600m)

#11 – Decadent Tale @ $11.00

Decadent Tale hasn’t been in winning form this preparation, but we’re happy to include her in selections.

The six-year-old mare by Kermadec does her best racing over the distance, including a win and three placings.

Getting double-figure odds is appealing.

Race 3. (11:35) Tab Highway C3 (1100m)

#1 – Ramones @ $9.00

Ramones won well three back at Gosford before finishing just behind the winner at Newcastle and Randwick.

The four-year-old gelding by Zoustar owns three second placings over the distance, and getting the inside draw helps.

He also gets 2kg off his back, and the odds are too good to pass up.

Race 4. (12:10) 50 Year and Life Member BM72 (2000m)

#1 – Invincible Spy @ $5.00

Invincible Spy is gunning for three consecutive wins after scoring at Wagga and Randwick.

The three-year-old colt by I Am Invincible won by a half-length as a $10.00 chance last start, and we’re not worried by the shortening odds.

Punters should expect him to push forward and be tough to run down.

Race 5. (12:45) Foundation Female Member BM78 (1600m)

#9 – Redbreast @ $3.60

Redbreast struggled in Brisbane last time out, but coming back to Sydney should help her cause.

The filly by American Pharoah has since run well in a trial at Randwick, and she should be fresh and ready to fire.

Having Tim Clark in the saddle helps her cause.

Race 6. (13:20) Tab BM78 (1000m)

#10 – Passeggiata @ $5.50

Passeggiata has been backed and beaten in two runs this preparation, but we’re sticking with her.

She is a classy type at best, and running second behind The Black Cloud won’t change much for this run.

She’s good enough to turn the tables given the draw, which suits her best, and the $5.50 is generous.

Race 7. (13:55) Petaluma BM94 (1300m)

#10 – So Risque @ $11.00

So Risque is a seven-time winner from 28 starts, and since winning four back he owns three consecutive placings.

The six-year-old gelding by So You Think has yet to race on the track, but he’s a two-time winner over the distance.

Only the wide barrier draw is against her.

Race 8. (14:30) Lord Mayor’s Cup (2000m)

#5 – Sibaaq @ $6.00

Sibaaq is getting close after two solid efforts this preparation, and he has been close in three starts at Randwick.

The six-year-old gelding by Dark Angel will need some luck from the wide draw, but he has time to find cover.

After opening at $9.00, money has come for him throughout the week.

Race 9. (15:05) Bob Charley AO Stakes (1100m)

#11 – Semillion @ $5.00

Semillion got back to winning form at Newcastle in heavy conditions, so the track won’t worry him.

The four-year-old son of Shalaa won his only start at Randwick and getting in with only 53.5kg on his back is a steal.

Take the each-way odds before they shorten on race day.

Race 10. (15:40) Racing and Sports Handicap (1600m)

#3 – Waterford @ $3.70

Waterford loves running on rain-affected tracks, and he got back to his best form two back at Rosehill.

He then finished second behind Sky Lab at Scone, which was a tough race, and he didn’t get all favours in the run.

Expect him to get back and flash home late.

Race 11. (16:20) Catanach’s Jewellers BM78 (1400m)

#11 – Xidaki @ $8.00

Value is with Xidaki, who won consecutive races before struggling for sixth last time out.

The Peter and Paul Snowden-trained gelding owns two wins and four placings from seven starts, and he’s unbeaten over the distance.

Take the value odds in an even field.
