Stylish Aquanita Stakes win on the cards says Stewart

Must read

There is talented opposition against him, but Russell Stewart gives Stylish Lord a big chance of winning the Listed Aquanita Stakes (2000m) at Belmont on Saturday.

Stewart’s confidence in Stylish Lord outpointing his nine Aquanita rivals is founded on his strong win with 60kg against older horses at Belmont a week ago.

The Playing God gelding enjoyed a good run on the fence to the turn and once clear for jockey, Alan Kennedy, he finished best and scored by a neck over 1650m.

Russell Stewart said there was alot to like about how Stylish Lord ran through the line strongly and he’s looking forward to getting him over more ground in the Aquanita.

“He’s going really good and I think he’s been looking for this,” Stewart said to the Races WA.

“I thought he had a bit of an ask to win last week from where he was but he finished good.

“There’s going to be genuine pace in this race and he’ll just tuck in.

“I’ll tell Steven Parnham to ride him like Alan did last Saturday.

“He had a good gallop on the grass Tuesday morning and worked nice.

“He’ll turn up fresh and bright on Saturday.”

Stewart said Stylish Lord will retain the blinkers after they proved a successful gear change last week.

“Alan said he got to the front too early,” Stewart said.

“He’s just an air head and had a good look around.

“I wasn’t sure with the blinkers, but when he chases they are going to be good.”

Stylish Lord jumps from barrier six for Parnham, a dual winner of the Aquanita Stakes.

He steered home God Has Spoken (2010) and Playing God (2011) for his dad, trainer, Neville Parnham.

Stylish Lord is $4.40 and on the second line of markets with betting sites.

Cool Memory, third in the Belmont Guineas, is a warm $2.50 favourite.

Manzor Magic is $5.50, Miro $6.50 and Weeraechoux $9.

Stewart is wary of strong opposition.

“Gee, there’s three or four horses in there with good chances,” Stewart said.

“Manzor Magic and obviously the top weight, Cool Memory, he ran third in the Guineas.

“Manzor Magic is by Alamanzor and does like to get over a bit of ground.

“Whether it’s got the class, I don’t know, but you know what the Williams’ are like when they get over ground.”
