Crows defender set for surgery

The backman will miss this weekend’s match

Adelaide defender Will Hamill is set for a stint on the sidelines due to a broken finger.

Hamill injured his finger during last weekend’s win against Greater Western Sydney and scans revealed he would require surgery.

Crows Senior Coach Matthew Nicks told the media on Thursday morning Hamill was set to miss the next three to four weeks.

“Unfortunately we are going to lose Will Hamill, which is one we were hoping didn’t go that way,” Nicks said.

“He injured his finger last weekend and the results of that have been unfortunately not as good as we thought.

“He’ll go in for surgery today, so he’ll miss three or four weeks with a cracked finger.

“Will was going so well, he’s found his groove this year and really made that spot his own, so this is a bit of a setback for him.”

Adelaide faces Brisbane at the Gabba this Sunday and will name its squad on Thursday at 5.50pm (ACST).

The Crows’ final team will be announced on Friday at 4.30pm (ACST).
