Lolly fans have been left in outrage after iconic Aussie brand Allen’s revealed the real flavours of its famous snakes.

Red isn’t raspberry, yellow isn’t lemon and orange isn’t orange according to the candy makers who have printed the true flavours on the back of each pack.

Red is strawberry, purple is blackberry and yellow is actually pineapple.

The green snake, which most fans believe to be lime, is actually lemon and the orange is described as apricot by the brand.

One outraged fan posted a photo of the back of the packet on Reddit, in shock.

‘I refuse to believe that these are the official flavours,’ he said.

And people were quick to agree with him.

‘Green is lime and orange is orange,’ one person said.

‘I have never tasted apricot from their bag,’ added another.

‘I would rather cut out my own eyes than accept orange as apricot,’ a third declared.

A fourth couldn’t cope with the news: ‘I will die on the fact that green is not lemon. Green is either lime or green. It tastes green not yellow.’

Many argued Allen’s flavour labels ‘don’t make sense’.

‘Green is lemon!? No way. Lemons aren’t green,’ one man said.

‘Flavours should taste like colours! It’s political correctness gone completely mad,’ another fumed.

‘It goes against everything colours stand for,’ added a third.

Others poked fun at the idea of the snakes actually ‘tasting like fruit’.

‘Red as strawberry? Absolutely not. It’s red flavour,’ one person laughed.

‘And purple is purple flavour a berry has nothing to do with it,’ another said.

‘They have different flavours?’ asked another who believes they all ‘taste the same’.

Other people declared the news had ruined their day: ‘I am going back to bed.’

Another declared the new wrapper as a ‘genius’ sales technique.

‘This is marketing faff to give the product the allure of being healthy. Hey, look, fruit words,’ they said.

Tanya Hennessy spoke about the snake flavours previously – but fans have taken more notice since they have been printed on the packet.
