A comedian based in Australia who performed shows in his adopted country and overseas has been tragically killed in a freak accident while attending a festival in France.
Suggestions have emerged as to why Comedian and TV star Ellen DeGeneres has abruptly cancelled a few of her upcoming comedy shows.
Ticketmaster has revealed that four of the comedian’s upcoming shows have been cancelled, shortly after kickstarting her multi-city stand-up tour.
‘To Di For’ podcast host, Kinsey Schofield joined Sky News host Rita Panahi to discuss why Ellen had cancelled some of her upcoming events.
Ms Schofield questioned whether or not it was due to a lack of people buying tickets.
“I wonder personally if people aren’t buying tickets and that’s why they had to cancel the shows,” she said.
Tony Knight, 54, was in southern France last month attending the Rock&Cars festival when he was reportedly struck by a tree on June 7, local media reported.
It is understood a large branch had fallen on a number of attendees, including Mr Knight, but the Englishman was the only person to be fatally injured in the incident.
A family member confirmed his death to Fox News Digital.

Knight had only been in France for a few days when he and a friend decided to attend the festival, which centres around classic cars and music, in the town of Lavaur.
He leaves behind his partner Hayley, who is currently in the French town of Bouillac, as she tries to come to terms with the sudden loss of her “soul mate”.
The couple had been living on a farm in the Victorian town of Beaufort for four years.
Knight worked as a dog behaviouralist, but was also passionate about comedy.
He performed his show “Mad Dogs and an Englishman” at venues in Australia and overseas. He was set to take to the stage in the United Kingdom for his next leg of his shows.

A close friend has set up a GoFundMe page to help with costs of the funeral.
“He was only 54 and having the time of his life. He was fit, healthy, happy and had everything going for him. He was charismatic, funny, passionate and so very loved by Hayley, his family and his friends all over the world,” the page read.
The Rock&Cars Facebook page also shared the fundraiser.
More than $6,000 has been raised, with a goal of $20,000.

Tributes have also poured in for Knight the last few weeks.
His mum shared a heartfelt photo of her son as a baby and a young man on June 10.
“My son Tony meant different things to many people but for me he was simply my boy. 27th April 1970 – 8th June 2024,” she wrote.
Family and friends passed on their condolences to Knight’s loved ones.
“Sending you my deepest sympathy and sincere condolences. Tony was a remarkable friend, and teacher to both human and canine. He will be missed,” one person said.
“Tony was the kindest, funniest, an amazing dog behaviourist, the most thoughtful friend & a soulmate to Hayley,” a second person added.
