As Wimbledon enters its fifth day, the men’s and women’s draws are whittled down to their final 32 competitors, all eyeing Grand Slam glory on the grass courts of the All England Club.
Defending champion Carlos Alcaraz looks to keep the Wimbledon title in his clutches, but faces his toughest test yet in the form of American Frances Tiafoe.
World No. 1 Jannik Sinner looks to continue his imperious grass-season form with a test against Miomir Kecmanovic. Sinner has looked superb since his return to the surface, having won seven consecutive matches on grass and looks to be in good stead for a maiden Wimbledon title.
In other notable clashes on Friday, Roland-Garros runner-up Jasmine Paolini faces Bianca Andreescu, while former world No. 1 Daniil Medvedev faces off with unseeded Jan-Lennard Struff.
top men’s match – Alcaraz (2) v tiafoe (29)
The pair are synonymous with dazzling displays, as evidenced by their sparkling semi-final clash in New York City, and Friday’s Centre Court showing should be no different.
Their epic clash lasted four hours and 22 minutes as Alcaraz ran out the winner, setting the Spaniard on his way to his maiden Grand Slam title aged just 19.
top women’s match – Kartal v Gauff (2)
There is still plenty of British interest in the Wimbledon draw, and there will be even more eyes on emerging talent Kartal after an excellent tournament so far has seen her land the No. 2 seed Gauff in the third round.
The qualifier is ranked world No. 298 and has been exceptional so far in beating higher-ranked opposition.
Gauff herself broke through as a 15-year-old at Wimbledon in 2019, and she is looking to claim her first Wimbledon title.
If Kartal can get past Gauff, it would even supersede the American’s own breakthrough five years ago, when she defeated US great Venus Williams.

A resurgent Raducanu takes to the court again on Friday in search of her first Grand Slam title since her stunning US Open triumph in 2021.
Kartal is the only other British singles competitor, while Joe Salisbury, Neal Skupski, Lloyd Glasspool, Harriet Dart and Olivia Nicholls are in doubles action.
