A golf tournament last month raised $1,100 for Saving Children and Revealing Secrets.
Deon Brangman, who organised the event at Newstead on June 2, wanted to raise money for Scars because it provides a “platform where victims can be safe and talk about things that are not normally discussed”.
Mr Brangman, owner of Made to Fade barber shop in Washington Mall, said seven teams of four players participated in the inaugural fundraiser, which he hopes to make an annual event.
Since 2011, Scars has trained more than 13,300 Bermudians on how to reduce and prevent child sexual abuse before it occurs.
Debi Ray-Rivers, the founder and executive director of Scars, said the donation will allow the charity to continue this work.
“We are extremely grateful for people like Mr Brangman [and all our donors]”, she added.
