Man dead, two seriously injured in Victorian highway crash

A man has has died and two others were seriously injured in a car rollover on a major Victorian highway overnight.

The trio were in a silver 2009 Jeep Wrangler that left the road on South Gippsland Hwy and rolled just near Baxter-Tooradin Rd, Tooradin, southeast of Melbourne, just after 8.30pm on Saturday.

“It’s believed the vehicle may have been involved in a collision with another car prior to it losing control,” police said on Sunday morning.

The man who died at the scene is yet to be identified.

He’s described as being in his 30s or 40s and having a shaved head and facial hair.

The other men, aged 38 and 34, were taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The 38-year-old man is believed to have been the driver at the time of the crash, police said.

Police are investigating how the crash unfolded.

“The exact circumstances surrounding the collision and crash are yet to be determined and investigations remain ongoing,” police said.
