European golf star and former LIV player Pablo Larrazabal has made a bold statement regarding his future on the PGA Tour after fans implored him to join the American series
Pablo Larrazabal has insisted he will “never” again accept a full workload on the PGA Tour.
The Spaniard has been a regular fixture on the European Tour for 15 years and boasts nine title wins in his home competition. Larrazabal, 41, clinched both the Korea Championship and KLM Open crowns last year and is currently ranked 150th in the world.
The Barcelona native has also been a regular feature at golf‘s majors in the past, though he’s missed the cut in 15 of his 20 attempts at golf’s four biggest tournaments. He tied for 65th at the PGA Championship in 2023 but later missed the weekend’s action at both the US Open and The Open in Liverpool.
Given he’s still very much competitive on the European Tour, it’s only natural Larrazabal at least has the option of competing in its PGA equivalent. However, he’s adamant that doesn’t line in his future.
Larrazabal – who featured on the Saudi-funded LIV Golf Series back in 2022 – caught praise from one fan on X, who said they hoped to catch more of him playing on the American circuit. However, the veteran was resolute in his response as he wrote back: “Thank you Felix but I will never play PGA full schedule…”
The top 10 ranked players on the Race to Dubai – the European Tour’s rankings – automatically qualify to play the PGA Tour. However, it seems new dad Larrazabal wouldn’t be interested in the commitment even if that were an option.
The Spaniard is currently 50th in the Race to Dubai standings, though there’s still time for him to climb into top-10 contention. He’s set to take part in the upcoming Genesis Scottish Open, which will pit European Tour players against their PGA counterparts ahead of The Open.
Larrazabal said he “can’t wait” to get underway at The Renaissance Club in North Berwick when the Scottish Open returns on Thursday. However, he conceded he’s still ironing some kinks out of his play ahead of the big meet.
Fans from both tours will get their chance to watch a host of stars from both sides of the Atlantic in action in Scotland. However, any PGA followers enthused about Larrazabal’s cameo will have to soak him up while they can.
