The USA has always been a market sports around the globe have attempted to tap into, with cricket being the latest to attempt to grab a slice of the country’s sporting pie.

The efforts have intensified in the last 12 months, with the country co-hosting the recent T20 World Cup, and the creation of its own league, called Major League Cricket.

With the second season having just begun, some of the biggest stars of the game have flocked to the States to play for six clubs, including famous Aussies.

How to watch Major League Cricket in Australia

The only way to watch Major League Cricket in Australia is via Prime Video, with the platform showing every match of the T20 tournament live.

Prime Video is increasing its cricket content, having also been the exclusive broadcaster of the 2024 T20 World Cup in Australia.

What time is Major League Cricket in Australia?

There are two different start times for Major League Cricket in Australia, with games being played either in Texas or in North Carolina.

The earliest start time is at 5:00 a.m. AEST, whilst the later start time is at 10:00 a.m. AEST.

The playoffs and final all begin at 10:30 a.m., with the final scheduled for July 29.

Which Australians are playing in Major League Cricket?

There are 14 Australians who will be playing in the Major League Cricket tournament for 2024.

The most notable names include current Australia captain Pat Cummins, Steve Smith, who is captain of the Washington Freedom, Alex Carey, and Travis Head.

Two former Australian legends are also coaching in the competition, with Ricky Ponting coaching the freedom, and Shane Watson in charge of the San Fransisco Unicorns.

Major League Cricket schedule

The Major League Cricket tournament began on July 6 and will see each team play each other at least once, with every team playing seven games overall.

The regular season ends on July 24, with the top two sides advancing straight to the qualifier, and the third and fourth placed teams playing off in the eliminator.

The winner from the qualifier will head straight to the final, whilst the loser of that match will play the winner of the eliminator in the challenger match to decide the second team in the final.

Last season’s final saw MI New York defeat the Seattle Orcas by seven wickets.
