Police are searching for a teenager who allegedly caused a deadly, high-speed crash in Melbourne’s east last week.
Police said the 17-year-old boy was allegedly behind the wheel of a stolen car involved in a crash that claimed the life of 28-year-old Ashburton man William Taylor.
This afternoon, a police spokesperson said the boy had “failed to comply with his bail conditions and his current whereabouts are unknown”.
The high school student was allegedly driving a stolen Jeep Cherokee which smashed into Mr Taylor’s car at an intersection in Burwood.
He was granted bail to appear in court in August.
Teenager fled the scene of fatal crash, court heard
The teenager faced a Melbourne court last week on numerous charges relating to the crash, including culpable driving causing death.
The court heard the boy was found in his bed just 90 minutes after the fatal incident.
Two 15-year-old girls are due to face court over the same incident later this month, charged with theft of a motor vehicle.
