NRL Late Mail: Round 19 – Turbo No.1 again; JC returns

Tom Trbojevic is set to return to fullback amid a wider Manly reshuffle as NRL teams navigate the loss of their Origin stars for Round 19.

A host of big names will miss Round 19, with a number of youngsters handed an opportunity to shine in their absence. 

Jye Gray has received another opportunity as Rabbitohs fullback after Latrell Mitchell suffered a foot injury while Daejarn Asi will line up at halfback for the Eels with Mitchell Moses in Blues camp.

NRL Late Mail: Round 19

Dolphins v Rabbitohs, Thursday 7.50pm at Kayo Stadium

Dolphins: The absence of Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow in Maroons camp sees Trai Fuller again wearing the No.1 jersey while winger Jack Bostock returns from concussion protocols. The loss of Jeremy Marshall-King to a foot injury sees Max Plath slide to hooker and Kenny Bromwich start at lock, while Tevita Pangai jnr starts at prop in Felise Kaufusi’s absence on Origin duty. Josh Kerr and Ray Stone join the bench along with Sean O’Sullivan, who has been recalled for his first game since Round 7.

Rabbitohs: Jye Gray returns at fullback for the injured Latrell Mitchell while Michael Chee Kam joins the starting side with Cameron Murray on Blues duty. Liam Le Blanc is the new face on the interchange bench. Siliva Havili is listed among the reserves as he closes in on a return from a calf injury.

Sharks v Wests Tigers, Friday 8.00pm at PointsBet Stadium

Sharks: Halfback Nicho Hynes won’t play after injuring his ankle at training on Monday so Braydon Trindall shifts to No.7 and Daniel Atkinson will wear the No.6. Sione Katoa returns on the wing after missing Round 18 under the concussion protocol. Teig Wilton starts in the back row with Siosifa Talakai suspended while Jesse Colquhoun and Braden Hamlin-Uele are the new faces on the bench.

Wests Tigers: Alexander Lobb comes in on the wing with Solomona Faataape shifting to the centres and Justin Olam sidelined by a knee injury. Justin Matamua has dropped to 18th man with his place on the bench taken by Reuben Porter. Outside back Star To’a is listed among the reserves as he looks to return from a hamstring injury.

Titans v Eels, Saturday 5.30pm at Cbus Super Stadium

Titans: Jayden Campbell returns from a hand injury at five-eighth and AJ Brimson is listed as 18th man as he makes his way back from a groin injury. Josiah Pahulu takes over at prop from Maroons rep Moeaki Fotuaika while Klese Haas returns from a foot injury in the back row. Phil Sami has been named on the interchange after missing last week’s game with a calf strain.

Eels: Daejarn Asi takes over at halfback from Blues No.7 Mitch Moses while Lorenzo Mulitalo makes his NRL debut on the wing with Blaize Talagi shifts to the centres and Sean Russell dropping to the reserves. Charlie Guymer starts at lock after an impressive debut off the bench last week while Matt Doorey also comes into the starting side with Shaun Lane on the bench. Luca Moretti joins the bench in place of Junior Paulo (foot).

Broncos v Dragons, Saturday 7.35pm at Suncorp Stadium

Broncos: Tristan Sailor and Tyson Smoothy join the starting side and Xavier Willison moves to prop in the absence of Reece Walsh, Pat Carrigan and Payne Haas while Kotoni Staggs is back from personal leave to partner Deine Mariner in the centres with Selwyn Cobbo on Origin duty. The hamstring injury to Jock Madden sees Josh Rogers take over at halfback while Jordan Riki returns from suspension in the back row. Blake Mozer is the new man on the bench.

Dragons: Mikaele Ravalawa returns on the wing in place of Blues rep Zac Lomax while Jesse Marschke takes over from Maroons rep Ben Hunt at halfback. Raymond Faitala-Mariner returns after missing last week’s game due to back spasms so Luciano Leilua reverts to the bench alongside Toby Couchman, Ben Murdoch-Masila and Hame Sele, who is back from a shoulder injury. Jack Bird is listed as 18th man after making his comeback from an ankle injury via NSW Cup last week.

Sea Eagles v Knights, Sunday 4.05pm at 4 Pines Park

Sea Eagles: Tom Trbojevic slides back to his customary fullback role with Tolu Koula facing a stint on the sideline with a knee injury. Tommy Talau moves to the centres and Lehi Hopoate comes in on the wing while Jamie Humphreys is the new halfback in Daly Cherry-Evans’ absence. Karl Lawton and Nathan Brown join the back row in place of Jake Trbojevic (Origin) and Ben Trbojevic (head knock). Corey Waddell, Gordon Chan Kum Tong and Clayton Faulalo join the bench.

Knights: A new-look backline for Adam O’Brien with Kalyn Ponga, Bradman Best and Dane Gagai on State of Origin duty and Enari Tuala nursing a calf injury. Fletcher Sharpe comes in at fullback, Krystian Mapapalangi on the wing and Dylan Lucas and Thomas Cant are the new centres. Phoenix Crossland returns from concussion at hooker and Adam Elliott comes in at lock with Mat Croker reverting to the bench.
