USA Basketball begins its quest for a fifth straight Olympic gold medal on Wednesday by hosting Canada in the first of five exhibition games beginning at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The United States qualified for the 2024 Olympic Games by finishing as one of the top two teams in the Americas region of the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup, despite failing to medal. The group, led by Anthony Edwards, Austin Reaves and Mikal Bridges, finished fourth.
LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry, Anthony Davis and Joel Embiid were among the 12 current NBA players selected to represent the team, which announced Wednesday that Derrick White would replace Kawhi Leonard. White is among five first-time Olympians.
After facing Canada, the roster will begin an international training window against Australia and Serbia on July 15-17 in Abu Dhabi. The team will finish up its exhibition run against South Sudan (July 20) and Germany (July 22) in London.
