RD 18 TEAM: Three ins for Tassie trip

Must read

Captain James Sicily headlines three changes in Hawthorn’s Round 18 team to take on Fremantle this Saturday.

Hawthorn has made three changes for its Round 18 clash with Fremantle on Saturday afternoon at University of Tasmania Stadium in Launceston.

Captain James Sicily and emerging forward Calsher Dear are both set to return from injury while Josh Ward has been selected for his first AFL game since Round 8 off the back of his solid form in the VFL.

Mitch Lewis is a forced change following his ACL injury while Jack Gunston has been managed and Seamus Mitchell has been omitted.

Hawthorn Executive General Manager of Football Rob McCartney was pleased to welcome back Sicily, Dear and Ward for Saturday’s match.

“Josh Ward’s consistency at VFL level has meant that he’s forced the door open for his selection,” McCartney said.

“He has consistently been in the best players, proving his ability to find the footy, both in the contest and on the outside.

“We also welcome the return of James Sicily and Calsher Dear from injury.

“James is not only a high-level performer but is an obvious leader on match day, while Calsher has impressed us with his aerial strength and ground-level pressure.”
