The bodies of a mother and her disabled teenage daughter have been discovered inside a home in Sydney’s northwest.

Officers attached to Ryde Police Area Command were called to a home in Marsfield just after 10:20am on Thursday following reports of concern for their welfare.

The bodies of Jennifer Carrig, 53, and her 13-year-old daughter were found inside the home.

According to the Daily Telegraph, the pair were found unconscious in separate bedrooms and had no obvious signs of injury.

Ms Carrig and her daughter had lived at the home for several years, with the teenager understood to have required full-time care.

Detectives are investigating what occurred with the home remaining taped off as a crime scene.

Forensic officers are said to be scouring the property, but it cannot yet be confirmed whether the deaths are suspicious.

Neighbours have expressed their shock at the incident, saying they were not aware of anything unusual in the leadup to the tragedy.

A neighbour told Daily Mail Australia he thought of the woman who lived in the residence as “very friendly and kind”.

He said Ms Carrig’s daughter lived with developmental issues.

Samantha Thomas-Barber, a close friend of Ms Carrig, said the 53-year-old was the “best mum” and was “so caring and thoughtful”.

“A true treasure and warrior … she was the best mumma to her family,” she told the Daily Telegraph.
