Must read

Microsoft has revealed the prices for its Game Pass will be increased. The company noted the monthly charges will be raised by A$3-$4.

Its standard subscription tier for Xbox consoles will also be replaced. This means Xbox gamers will now be required to subscribe to Game Pass Ultimate for access to new games on the release date.

These price hikes come after Microsoft announced Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 would be available straight away to Game Pass subscribers.

Game Pass allows console and PC players to play hundreds of games for a monthly subscription fee.

Gamers can download the games available instead of streaming them.

Globally, there are around 34 million Game Pass subscribers.

The price increases for Australia are as follows:

  • Xbox Game Pass Ultimate: Increased from A$18.95 to A$22.95.
  • PC Game Pass: Increased from A$10.95 to A$13.95.
  • Xbox Game Pass Core: Increased from A$79.95 to A$89.95.

Changes will be implemented immediately for new subscribers, however, existing subscribers will see bills change come September.

Those currently with a basic subscription will keep it until the expiration date comes.

Subscribers for this tier will gain access to hundreds of games, however, this excludes new releases and a few games exclusive to Ultimate subscribers.

Microsoft revealed “some games” available on Ultimate on launch “may be” added to the standard tier later on.

It will also no longer be possible to stack Game Pass subscriptions for longer than 13 months.
